Salesforce has immediate opportunities for Database Distributed Systems Software Engineers! You will need familiarity with database internals, system programming, outstanding software engineering skills, and relish the opportunity to work on very sophisticated, highly concurrent, distributed systems. You must have a consistent record of success where you proven end to end ownership of architecture, design, implementation, testing, and product support.

Your Impact:

Work on Database Internals/System layers: schema design, executor, system catalog, buffer cache, transaction logging, shared memory, deadlocks, etc
Areas where you may be working on include Querying optimization, RDBMS, distributed store, execution, processing, rewrites, engine, metadata, parallelization, parser, etc.
Designing and implementing major security pieces of the salesforce.com core database infrastructure such as: replication, encryption messaging, application scaling using read-replicas, and multifaceted capacity management, pen tests, threat modeling exercises
Building Database services on AWS, GCP or other public cloud substrates.
Use API's to enable and scale database applications.
Experience with one or more cloud technologies: Kubernetes, Puppet, Docker, Spinnaker, Terraform, Jenkins, Git
PostgreSQL software development experience and community involvement as a contributor is a huge plus
Participate in the team's on-call rotation to address complicated problems in real-time and keep services operational and highly available.

Required Skills:

A related technical degree required.
Deep knowledge of object oriented programming and other scripting languages: Java, C++, C, Scala, Python, Shell
Experience with Agile development methodology and Testing
Experience using telemetry and metrics to drive operational excellence
In depth experience of design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and concurrency

Desired skills:

Orchestration and utilization of query management is desired

Meta data management

Experience in optimizing infrastructure for scalability and efficiency

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $157,600 to $306,600.

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $172,000 to $334,600.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
