Software Architect, Agentic Systems (Quality & Performance)

Salesforce's Central Performance Services (CPS) team is at the vanguard of engineering innovation. We are building the foundational tools and services that guarantee the performance and reliability of all Salesforce products. We are seeking an expert Software Architect to lead a transformative effort in building agentic solutions for our software development lifecycle.

Your primary focus will be to design and build a sophisticated agent-based system that leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI to fully automate and simplify the quality and performance testing process. You will be responsible for the architectural vision and technical strategy that will enable our systems to independently test and validate software. This is a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in AI and distributed systems to redefine the standards of software quality and performance engineering.

We are seeking a visionary and hands-on Architect to lead the charge in this ambitious endeavor. In this role, you will be the hands on architect for our autonomous SDLC agent. You will be responsible for the end-to-end vision, design, and development of a system that will redefine our engineering practices. If you are passionate about building intelligent systems, have a deep understanding of LLMs and agentic AI, and are excited by the challenge of automating the entire software development process, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Lead the Vision: Define and articulate the strategic vision for a fully autonomous software development life cycle agent.
  • Hands-on Architecture: Lead by example, actively participating in the design, and prototyping of the agent and its underlying platform.
  • Research and Innovate: Drive research into state-of-the-art LLMs, agentic AI frameworks, and their application to the SDLC.
  • End-to-End Ownership: Oversee the entire lifecycle of the autonomous agent, from conceptualization and development to deployment and continuous improvement.
  • Agile Leadership: Guide development teams using agile methodologies to deliver iterative and impactful releases of the autonomous agent.
  • Technical Excellence: Ensure the highest standards of engineering excellence, code quality, and system reliability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering leaders, performance engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the autonomous agent meets the complex demands of our organization.
  • Evangelize and Influence: Champion the adoption of AI-driven software development practices across the company.
  • Team Growth: Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

Successful candidates will have the following skills:

  • Expertise in AI: A deep understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), including prompting techniques, fine-tuning, and their application in code generation, reasoning, and planning.
  • Agentic AI Knowledge: A strong grasp of agent-based architectures and experience in building or working with AI agents.
  • Software Development Acumen: A comprehensive understanding of the modern software development life cycle (SDLC), including agile methodologies, CI/CD, and DevOps.
  • Cloud Native: Proficiency with cloud technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: A pragmatic approach to problem-solving, with a focus on delivering functional and impactful solutions.
  • Leadership and Communication: Proven ability to lead and inspire engineering teams, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required Experience:

  • Industry Experience: 15+ years of experience in software development.
  • AI/ML Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in building and deploying AI and machine learning systems.
  • SaaS/PaaS/IaaS Experience: 5+ years of experience in a SaaS, PaaS, or IaaS environment.
  • Educational Background: A related technical degree required.
  • Programming Proficiency: Expertise in Python and a strong command of object-oriented and multi-threaded programming. Experience with Go and Javascript is a plus.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in designing and delivering large-scale, complex software systems.

In office expectations are 10 days/a quarter to support customers and/or collaborate with their teams.
