In this incredibly important and visible role, as Chef de Cuisine, you execute the culinary vision of our signature fine dining restaurant. The #3 restaurant in Northern Virginia and a vital part of the Forbes Five Star Award for the resort. Leading all day-to-day food operations, you control the food prep area, and are responsible for purchasing, receiving, storage, issuance, preparation, and presentation of food items. You are an enthusiastic and positive role model, by promoting the Salamander Hospitality culture of making our team and our guests feel welcome, respected, appreciated and special. You create innovative cuisine focused on showcasing the incredible bounty of local ingredients to The Northern Virginia Region while reflecting industry trends and guests' palates. You foster an atmosphere of creativity, teamwork, and partnering with the Harrimans General Manager, create anticipatory service as you design and execute delightful culinary experiences.

You lead by example, acting as a member of the line staff when needed, executing consistently and cohesively in a variety of cooking methods to assure timeliness, efficiency, and product integrity. You participate in staff development, including the selection and training of new team members. You provide meaningful feedback and coaching as you thoughtfully supervise culinary team members. You help to drive and control financial aspects of Culinary, including maximizing revenue, expenditure control and labor efficiency. You are called upon to conduct routine safety and sanitation inspections of the operation to maintain Salamander's standards of cleanliness and organization while meeting or exceeding local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.

You form effective relationships within the F&B division and work closely with all resort departments to maintain rapport and foster open communication. This involves attending related meetings and ensuring details are clearly relayed to create a seamless service experience. You set the tone by consistently upholding and ensuring compliance with departmental procedures, including standards for safety, quality, timing, attendance, and appearance. You take pride in making surreal work areas are sparkling clean, safe and well organized. You maintain a thorough knowledge of current services, amenities, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Middleburg and the surrounding area. When needed, you act to promptly resolve guest concerns, coordinating necessary efforts through the appropriate departments and consistently follow-up to ensure resolution.

Job Requirements:
• Two or more years in a Culinary leadership role in a luxury hotel, resort, or fine dining restaurant, to include hands-on operations, leading teams, financial oversight and regulatory compliance
• Hold a relevant qualification, ideally a Culinary degree or an accredited apprenticeship
• Serv Safe Manager Certification.
• Maintain all State and Salamander required kitchen related certifications and trainings.
• Possess a valid Virginia driver's license and maintain all Salamander driver requirements.
• Above average knife skills, as well as proficiency in various cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
• Ability to create and follow standardized recipes, determine proper cooking times, temperatures, and methods.
• Ability to manage and maintain a recipe costing and inventory database specific to your outlet.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and office equipment
• Physical strength and stamina to perform a Culinary operations role, maintain ongoing, prolonged physical activity throughout a scheduled day to include lifting 50+ pounds, working indoors and outdoors in varying weather, comfort with noise levels, electrical, chemical, and fume hazards with or without a reasonable accommodation. Ability to kneel, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, stretch, bend, push, pull, and walk for prolonged periods.
• Timeliness and flexibility-you agree to work a flexible schedule. We work at peak business hours, which for us includes weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
