As a Principal Software Engineer on our Marketplace engineering team, you will build applications that power Roblox's Marketplace. Your work will directly impact more than ~70M daily active users on the platform as they craft their identity on Roblox and will drive growth for our UGC community of developers. This role is unique, where you will develop high scale distributed virtual commerce and shopping systems . You Will:
- Focus on personalized search and recommendation systems for Marketplace. (https://www.roblox.com/catalog)
- Build the backend systems for new shopping and commerce applications
- Improve the discoverability and relevance of Marketplace inventory to match the best content being created by our community of developers
- Support our search and recommendation infrastructure in production, sharing the on-call rotation with your team colleagues
- Write high-quality, performant code, as well as refactor and improve our existing codebase
- Improve system reliability, performance, and test coverage
You Have:
- Experience with search and recommendation systems
- Led cross functional engineering efforts to scale up backend systems that handle millions of transactions daily
- Experience in designing and building backend applications using microservices architecture and API development
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL database scalability and optimization
- 8+ years of work experience with backend systems
- B.S/M.S degree in Computer Science or have equivalent work experience in a production environment
Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
