As a 3D Artist, you will be working with a team of talented engineers, product managers, and designers in building the best tools and workflows for Roblox’s community of developers. You will be instrumental in informing where we take our tools, including priorities for individual features and integration opportunities with other features across Roblox Studio.
You will:
- Partner with engineers to prototype and guide the development of our movement and rigging systems
- Be a subject matter expert on game asset creation and production, including user-centered technologies.
- Evaluate our internal workflows to develop a POV on areas of critical investment; bring knowledge of industry best practices to the team
- Coordinate reviews with other subject matter experts in the company ultimately responsible for quality control of features
- Engage with user research to understand the unique needs of our community
- Partner with our community engagement and documentation teams to build tutorials and sample content
- Engage with external creators to advise on best practices and surface opportunities to further improve workflows
- Familiarity with scripting languages and node-based character controllers (i.e. Unreal Blueprints) is ideal
You have:
- A Bachelor’s degree or proven experience in a related CG field or computer science
- 6+ years experience in the game industry, worked on titles on multiple platforms (mobile a plus)
- Ability: Envision extensible and efficient methods for 3D content creation in a game environment
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of modern real-time engines, a variety of tools (including Maya and Blender), and complex asset management systems
- Skills: Demonstrates an expertise in a wide range of 3D workflows, from environment, character, and vfx
- Technical Toolbelt: Builds examples or demonstrates complex concepts in Studio or other engines
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.
Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
