The Load and Fault team at Robinhood, builds out a platform that empowers all of engineering at Robinhood. Using live market data, engineers are able to truly simulate the load on the products they develop. With a complex and distributed system, engineers can test the capacity, the load it can handle, and ensure their products remain reliable for the future!

We are hiring a Staff Software Engineer and Tech Lead, with proven experience in the infrastructure domain, to join the team and help set the direction of Load and Fault Engineering at Robinhood. You will act as a technical leader, systems architect, mentor, problem solver, coder and liaison to other engineering/product groups.

What you’ll do

  • Design large-scale systems within the team, making the right tradeoffs for risk and long-term maintainability
  • Set up and drive technical directions of projects while also driving long term vision and strategy
  • Supporting core backend systems for the team and helping build out new greenfield initiatives
  • Partner cross functionally to ensure teams are set up for success in regards to their testing and use of the product
  • Ensure maintaining resiliency for services with high traffic
  • Mentor and up-level the team

What you bring

  • 8+ years of experience building and leading the design and implementation of critical infrastructure systems and services in a microservices architecture
  • Experience working on Kubernetes and familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Exposure with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Buildkite
  • Exposure to load and scale testing platforms and functional testing in staging or pre-production environments
  • Passion for building solutions to counter significant challenges related to scalability
  • Familiarity with storage and caching systems like postgres, redis and dynamodb
  • Passion in mentoring other engineers and improving the engineering craftsmanship!
