In this role, you'll join a team of engineers focused on ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our network infrastructure through automation, monitoring, and innovative deployments. You'll collaborate with teams across security, corporate engineering, business automation, and external partners to guarantee secure, reliable access to our services and resources.

As Staff Network Reliability Engineer, you will apply your expertise in networking and automation to ensure our infrastructure is robust, scalable, and efficient, applying SRE principles to reduce toil and improve system reliability and performance.

What you’ll do

  • Act as an owner and leader of Robinhood's infrastructure by ensuring project infrastructure needs are met and working proactively with customer teams to help them improve reliability and set best practices
  • Design and maintain scalable and resilient cloud networking solutions, using tools like Terraform and infrastructure as code practices
  • Implement and refine monitoring and alerting frameworks to proactively detect and mitigate issues, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Develop and maintain secure remote access solutions like VPNs and zero trust architectures to protect company data
  • Create and manage an automation platform to streamline network deployments and configuration management across a global footprint
  • Improve monitoring solutions to maintain insight into network health and performance metrics
  • Design and support essential production network services to ensure a seamless user experience
  • Collaborate with external partners to establish private peering connections
  • Advocate for and implement continuous improvement in our internal controls
  • Participate in regular on-call rotation

What you bring

  • Experience working on Kubernetes and familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • 7+ years of experience in network, system, or software engineering with a significant focus on automation and reliability
  • Proficiency in automation and infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Saltstack)
  • A passion for automating repetitive tasks and reduction toil
  • Deep knowledge in 2 or more network protocols and services (BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP) from a reliability and performance perspective
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a commitment to achieving high reliability and uptime
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of working effectively across teams

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. This role is also eligible to participate in a Robinhood bonus plan and Robinhood’s equity plan. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
