As a Data Scientist working on Fraud and Risk, you would work with backend engineers, product managers and operations teams across the company to understand and mitigate the risks to our business.

Robinhood faces unique data challenges with a focus on integrating complex data streams such as rapidly changing market data, user data based on app activity, and brokerage operations data to understand user behaviour and the risks to our business.

We are looking for a Data Scientist to drive the growth and remediate the abuse of Instant Deposit product, which offers customers immediate access to their deposit for trading. This is a crucial role that helps Robinhood to provide the most seemless experience in trading. The ideal candidate is passionate about understanding the different fraud vectors at a fast-growing company and building solutions to mitigate these risks. This team is part of the larger Data Team here at Robinhood.

This role is based in our Menlo Park, CA office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

What you’ll do

• Combining knowledge of fraud risk and market risk to improve our understanding of risk exposure to Instant Deposit, and partner with product managers to set the product strategy.
• Perform exploratory analysis and build monitoring dashboard on large scale datasets to assess the Instant Deposit product from the lense of revenue-risk trade off, and decomposition of different risk dimensions.
• Partner with other data scientists and software engineers in designing machine learning systems to power decisions in offering Instant Deposit access that is customized to customers and asset classes.
• Launch modeling solutions through A/B experimentation, extract insights from experiment outcome to drive future strategy.

What you bring

• Graduate degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field like mathematics, economics, statistics, engineering or natural sciences.
• 5+ years of relevant experience as a data scientist or quantitative analyst.
• Familiarity with ACH fraud and market risk of various assets, including equity, option, crypto, futures.
• In-depth knowledge of quantitative finance models, including but not limited to asset volatility models, and options pricing models.
• Strong data wrangling skills to produce analytics insights by exploring large scale data sets using SQL and Spark.
• Experience with experimentation and communicating data driven insights.
• Problem solving skills and a can-do attitude to dive deep into data to solve business problems
