About the team + role

The Market Operations team at Robinhood is responsible for traditional middle office brokerage operations. Our mission is to deliver an excellent end-customer experience and mitigate firm risk while supporting cutting-edge brokerage and financial products. We’re looking for a specialist to help grow our Margin team.

As a Market Operations Specialist (Margin), you’ll be responsible for account level risk management and operations. You’ll perform essential daily duties to keep our margin business running smoothly, including analyzing and resolving various types of margin calls, communicating with customers via phone or email to resolve escalated issues, reviewing risk-based alerts, testing the functionality of our margin product, and reviewing our outbound communications and educational materials. Additionally, you’ll be expected to help scale our processes, tools, documentation, and workflows, and be a key member in helping us grow our team. Along with the broader Market Operations team, you’ll work cross-functionally with our clearing, product, compliance, international, and engineering teams to improve operational efficiency, manage critical events effectively, and maintain our high-quality standards.

The role is based in our Denver, CO, Chicago, IL, Lake Mary, FL, and New York, NY office(s), with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

What you’ll do

  • Review daily margin calls and execute the firm's margin sellout process.
  • Recovery efforts across multiple entities to ensure accurate and timely reconciliation.
  • Leverage AI-driven initiatives to improve workflows, automate routine tasks, and enhance operational accuracy.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert during critical system outages or issues, participating in the weekly on-call rotation and remaining available outside standard business hours, including early mornings or late evenings, to ensure timely resolution
  • Drive testing of new products and conduct routine testing for existing processes to ensure stability and compliance.
  • Research, prioritize, and resolve margin-related escalations in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Mitigate firm and customer risk through intraday alert monitoring and proactively resolve account issues.
  • Partner with clearing, engineering, product, and international teams to drive efficiency, enhance the margin offering, and ensure consistent onboarding and operational standards, while fostering a collaborative culture of knowledge sharing and continuous team development.
  • Monitor and manage margin interest rates, ensuring accuracy and consistency across accounts, while assisting with the implementation of negotiated and promotional rate programs.
  • Maintain detailed records in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and contribute to ongoing updates and improvements to SOPs and Help Center articles to ensure accuracy and clarity.
  • Ensure adherence to firm procedures and industry regulations at all times.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • FINRA Series 7 and Series 63
  • Understanding of equities and option strategies
  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology and data-driven tools, with a forward-thinking approach to automation and process improvement.
  • Strong analytical skills, including critical thinking and data analysis. Comfortable leveraging digital tools to solve complex problems and drive efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of Regulation T and FINRA Rule 4210, including their application to margin requirements and risk management.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of Robinhood's products
  • Experience with retail client margin calls
  • Bonus: FINRA Series 24 and Series 4

In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
