Sherwood Media is Robinhood’s new, independent media brand for news and information about the markets, economics, business, technology, and the culture of money. Sherwood Media is building on the success of Snacks — our daily markets and business newsletter — which has one of the largest audiences in the country.

Sherwood will launch a suite of new editorial offerings throughout 2024, complementing Snacks with more always-on news updates and analysis, original reporting, new newsletter offerings, social-first content, and live events.

About the role

Sherwood Media’s Revenue team has the unique opportunity to sell into an engaged, intelligent, young audience that is hungry for information to be delivered on their terms and in their voice. One that gives them actionable narratives about where we're headed — financially and otherwise. The content strives to make financial news more actionable, accessible, entertaining and relevant by changing the way it is curated, shared and consumed by the next generation. Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for Sherwood Media’s mission. The role requires a high-energy hunting mentality paired with strong communication skills and an ability to understand business priorities on the brand and category level.

The Associate Director, Client Partnerships role will report into the Global Head of Revenue and be based in New York, joining the Sherwood Media Revenue Team

What you’ll do

As Associate Director, Client Partnerships on Sherwood Media’s Revenue team, you will be hungry to break new business and retain the customers working with Sherwood Media. Your primary responsibility is to drive revenue with partners by providing solutions that build our clients' businesses and brands.

You will use your expertise and knowledge to unlock the full potential of brands through a unique blend of premier content and advertising offerings, high-value audiences and a deep product portfolio.

This is a high-energy and high-volume job that requires persistent and persuasive interactions with clients, deep digital expertise, proven sales skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal teams to close deals.

  • Develop new relationships at all levels with agency and client partners.
  • Prospect, including the ability to qualify and close new accounts
  • Build and maintain a strong knowledge of Sherwood Media’s advertising products and solutions.
  • Adhere to a focused sales strategy and thrive on RFP volume
  • Be proactive with partners consistently bringing them solutions-oriented products to meet their business challenges.
  • Work with the Client Success team to manage the proposal and media plan process, ensuring highly relevant and creative solutions for partners.
  • Work closely with your senior management to manage internal revenue expectations and forecasting.
  • Manage a sales pipeline in a CRM with timely and accurate forecasting
  • Consistently communicate market feedback
  • Act as an ambassador for Sherwood Media and proactively network across the industry generating awareness, consideration and revenue for our company.

What you bring

  • 5+ years of digital media experience in a sales function
  • Established relationships with key agencies and brands
  • Experience at a leading publisher, technology, or social media platform is preferred
  • An entrepreneurial spirit
  • Extremely self-motivated
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Natural curiosity & never-ending desire to learn
  • Strong virtual & in-person presentation skills
  • Ability to provide consistent market feedback
  • Keen ability to listen & provide a consultative selling approach
  • Great question-asking skills
  • Strong track record of success driving revenue through discovering, prospecting, creating new business, and growing and retaining existing business
  • A strong understanding of consultative selling strategies and creative outreach skills
  • Strong writing skills to help craft presentations
  • Strong negotiation skills and an ability to persuade at all levels of an agency or client
  • Passion and knowledge of the online advertising industry
  • Growth mindset with hunger to constantly learn and improve your craft.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary

On target earnings for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands.  The expected on target earnings range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones.  This role is also eligible to participate in Robinhood’s equity plan.
 
Furthermore, this role is eligible to participate in Sherwood Media’s Sales Incentive plan which aligns incentive compensation directly to a candidate's ability to achieve quarterly and annual revenue targets.  Further details of the plan can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
