Sr. Manager, Insights - League of Legends Publishing

As the League Pubsports Insights Lead, you will partner with publishing, esports, and platform as well as game leadership teams (GLTs) to deliver player-first strategies built on deep audience understanding. From rebranding campaigns to generational outreach, you will lead efforts to define how League shows up in the world. This role demands a sharp strategic mindset, high research and analytics rigor, and a sensitivity to player behaviors to conduct custom, product-oriented insights work that will help to develop the next generation for League. You will lead Analysts and Researchers diving into League Esports and Publishing strategy while collaborating closely with League Game Insights, Global Publishing and Esports. You are also a part of an advanced insights craft culture at Riot, mentoring others and evolving the science of deeply understanding players. This hybrid position offers a blend of onsite collaboration at our global headquarters in Santa Monica, CA, and the flexibility of remote work.

  • Conduct custom insights work in support of League of Legends, driving publishing, esports, and platform product strategy, in alignment with the League GLT.  
  • Lead and evolve League’s understanding of players where they show up outside of matches, integrating behavioral and attitudinal data into actionable player segmentation.
  • Collaborate with central data engineering to incorporate new external data sources into the way we understand League players.
  • Analyze and optimize campaign performance, including brand health, creative resonance, and paid/organic strategy.
  • Support global-to-regional publishing and esports strategy with localized analysis, regional research, and comparative benchmarking.
  • Partner with publishing and esports PMs on campaign and event evaluation, creative, and player sentiment that help guide new product strategy methods. 
  • Drive A/B testing frameworks and KPI benchmarking for cross-product learnings. 
  • Partner with Ecosystem Leadership Team (EcoLT) Insights Lead and Central Analytics and Infrastructure Enablement Leads on ecosystem-wide efforts like audience frameworks, performance standards, and cross-game learnings.
  • Hold a high craft bar for League Pubsports insights work, both for research and analytics craft areas.

Required Qualifications: 

  • 7+ years in Insights roles, with deep expertise in either research or analytics and the ability to lead both; 3+ years in leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading publishing or live event insights for a live service game or entertainment IP.
  • Deep understanding of brand tracking, audience segmentation, and social/digital marketing analytics.
  • Strong communication with ability to influence across creative/product-oriented and technical audiences. Ability to synthesize behavioral, survey, and social data into compelling narratives for creative and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience applying mixed methods approaches to high-stakes strategic problems and working in a high stakes, cross-functional environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of League’s global audience, personal experience as a player, and Riot’s player-focused approach to publishing and esports.
  • Familiarity with competitive gaming ecosystems and their audiences.
  • Experience managing through brand evolution or audience repositioning efforts.
  • International audience research experience preferred.
