Principal Technical Product Manager, Game Understanding Agents
The ML Bots team builds Game Understanding Agents that power in-game player experiences across Riot’s live titles and games in development. These agents use machine learning to play, understand, and adapt like real players, enabling new forms of gameplay, training, and player support.
As the Principal Technical Product Manager for ML Bots, you will set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the technical capabilities that make these agents possible. You will partner closely with engineers, data scientists, designers, and game teams to ensure our modeling, simulation, and serving platforms meet the needs of multiple games, products, and regions worldwide. You will be accountable for delivering player-impacting features and robust internal systems that accelerate AI adoption and performance in live environments, with a particular focus on translational research and building effective research-to-production pipelines.
You and your team will provide engaging, high-quality experiences built from Game Understanding Agents across Riot’s games. You’ll provide a product vision for shared capabilities that reduce duplication and speed up delivery. You’ll partner with technical leaders to build AI products that support modeling, evaluation, and inference requirements while meeting high standards of reliability, latency, and scalability across regions. You’ll own the roadmaps that deliver robust tools and strong integration support to partner teams so that they can iterate rapidly, and you’ll keep the product direction focused on quality and sustainability through ongoing feedback from both players and developers.
Responsibilities:
- Define and own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for ML Bot technology, ensuring it delivers compelling player experiences and reusable capabilities across games and products.
- Partner with technical leads to establish requirements for modeling, simulation, evaluation, and serving systems that support Game Understanding Agents in production.
- Prioritize initiatives based on player value, developer impact, and feasibility, balancing short-term delivery with long-term scalability.
- Collaborate with engineering, applied ML, and research teams to translate research into production-ready systems, ensuring smooth handoff from experimental to deployed solutions.
- Design and validate features, workflows, and tools for multi-region deployment, including China.
- Drive decision-making on technical tradeoffs, performance targets, and infrastructure investments to ensure quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Build strong relationships with partner game teams to integrate ML Bots into live products and iterate based on real-world performance and player feedback.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of product management or technical product management experience, with at least 4 years in applied machine learning, game AI, or related technical domains.
- Demonstrated success leading technical products from concept to production in partnership with engineering, data science, and research teams.
- Strong understanding of ML system lifecycles, including data, modeling, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and research-to-production pipelines.
- Proven track record of setting the vision for and successfully delivering on multiple research-to-production pipelines.
- Experience defining technical requirements and roadmaps for systems used across multiple products and regions.
- Proven ability to navigate technical tradeoffs and align diverse stakeholders around high-impact priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences and building consensus across disciplines.
For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!
