The Project Engineer position will be responsible for managing all aspects of project assignments using the Product Development Process (PDP) as a guide to achieve the objectives of the projects. Directs and coordinates a project team in the planning, organization, implementation, and completion of engineering project assignments within area of responsibility by performing the following duties personally or through other project team members.

This position will serve our Water Heater Division, located in Oxnard, CA.

WHAT YOU'LL DO-
• Plans and implements engineering programs using the Product Development Process as a guide to achieve the objectives of the project. Acts as liaison with all departmental contacts as required to gain input when needed, and effectively communicates the status of project activity routinely through scheduled project reviews/reports.

• Provides detailed test programs and guidance to assigned lab and design personnel in the conductance and documentation of product specific test standards. Evaluates date and makes recommendations.

• Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.

• Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems as they arise.

• Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.

• Interacts with Engineering and other departmental staff to provide input regarding areas of individual expertise.

• Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.

• Travels as needed to complete agency certification, review field installations, attend meetings, etc.

Qualifications:

WHAT YOU NEED-

• Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, etc.

• 3 years or more of hands-on product design/testing/service of gas product and combustion engineering and/or refrigeration experience may be substituted for the previous requirements as long as the other requirements are met.

• Must have good mathematical, communication and electro-mechanical skills.

• Good organizational and problem solving skills.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and legal documents.

• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

• Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

• Must have basic skills to perform calculations of multiplication, division, addition and subtraction.

• Must have knowledge of use of mathematical relationships to evaluate data and make engineering decisions.

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The employee must occasionally listen for noise produced by units and components. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

• Computer skills necessary to perform above functions are required.

• Proficiency with basic Office Suite and other productivity tools. Experience with 3D modeling tools, Solidworks preferred. Understanding of CFD and FEA analysis tools and outputs.

• The candidate must have experience dealing with appliance and efficiency standards and requirements such as UL, Energy Star, ASME, CSA, IEC and CE. Experience with heat exchanger and pressure vessel design and ASME requirements preferred.

Payscale for this role based in California is: ($58,088-$92,962 USD) Please note all pay ranges are broadly stated and any final offer is dependent on factors such as location, direct experience, market guidance and internal equity, among other qualifying criteria".
