The Consumer Safety team's mission is to empower users with tools that impact their experience on Reddit, allowing them to have safer experiences and providing them the flexibility to define what “safe” means for them.

Some of our present and future work include:

Building new and more powerful safety and reporting tools that better meet the needs of Redditors

  • Modernizing and scaling existing tools to serve all Redditors globally
  • Working across teams to ensure initiatives are greater than the sum of their parts
  • Empowering users with their own safety tools and content controls on Reddit - blocking, reporting, muting, etc

What You’ll Do:

  • Work with cross-functional partners to develop, drive and execute a long term vision and strategy for Consumer Safety.
  • Work with partners from product, design, data science, and other engineering managers to plan and execute on short and long term goals.
  • Participate in the full development cycle: design, development, test, experimentation, and launch.
  • Support a high-caliber full stack product team of backend, frontend, and mobile engineers.
  • Coach and mentor engineers on the team to further their professional development.
  • Set and enable a culture of metrics led execution, with efficient processes and strong levels of transparency. 
  • Set goals and targets for your team and establish a culture of focusing on impact. 

What we are looking for:

  • 2+ years experience in managing a team of software engineers
  • 5+ years of experience developing large-scale distributed software applications (preferably products for end users)
  • Experience building and cultivating high performing teams, through hiring, performance managing, and professional development
  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on schedule
  • Results-oriented with a strong customer and business focus
  • Entrepreneurial and self-directed, demonstrated ability to innovate and bias toward action in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to communicate and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences
  • High empathy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to find compromise working across the entire engineering org
