Job Summary
 
The Director of Sales, Europe is responsible for driving sales growth of our range of Rapid Micro Biosystems Growth Direct systems, consumables, and services to pharmaceutical companies within Europe. The Director of Sales, Europe is accountable for leading, developing and managing a team of experienced sales representatives as they engage in technical, consultative selling processes to achieve quarterly and annual orders and revenue targets. The Director of Sales will report to and communicate weekly (minimum) with the GM, APAC & EU, as well as work collaboratively with the SVP of Global Sales & Marketing, North American Director of Sales and broader RMB team members regarding activities and opportunities within the assigned geography. This leadership position is critical to the development of our overall Commercial Team culture, must embrace our RMB values and be willing to operate and execute in an ever-changing environment. 

Core Operations

  • ­   Accountable for European team quarterly & yearly financial performance via active prospecting activities, sound deal strategy development and accurate forecasting
  • ­   Develop a territory plan to achieve or exceed territory growth per company plan through selling new GD systems and consumables.  
  • ­   Negotiate and close capital equipment sales (with follow-on services and consumables).
  • ­   Grow the opportunity pipeline and accurately forecast customer progress and pending sales.
  • ­   Coordinate and partner with the support team members (Installation, Applications, Validation, Services) in the region to support pre-sales and post-sales activities.
  • ­   Provide technical expertise during the selling process to establish customer interest, adequately qualify customers, determine customer buying processes, facilitate product selection and coordinate post-sale services. This may include customer meetings, technical sales presentations, hands-on workshops, participation in trade shows, presenting at technical conferences, etc.
  • ­   Develop and maintain relationships with key customers to be able to convey technical issues, expand sales to additional applications, and build the RMB brand in our marketplace.
  • ­   Develop relationships with key opinion leaders within the region and ensure that they are knowledgeable about our technology, while ensuring this voice of customer insight is shared and communicated with our product development team members
  • ­   Regularly travel (60%+) within the region to visit customer sites, and actively coach and mentor team members to accelerate their professional development and achieve commercial targets
  • Administrative duties include a regular touchpoint with GM, APAC & EU to discuss deal activities, forecasting updates, while ensuring team is staying current with CRM account information. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Other Requirements

  • Education & Experience Requirement:  BS/BA degree in science / business related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.  Documented success in Industrial and/or Medical Device Sales is critical.

  • Travel Requirements:   Travel required to client site locations weekly.   Flying to and from Freising, Germany with customers will be part of the sales process for customer workshops. Occasional travel to the U.S. (Boston).

  • Industry Experience:   Knowledge of industrial microbiology lab environment while selling capital equipment (strategic, long cycle, complex, multiple stakeholders, etc.) and pull through disposables a plus. Medical Device capital sales also preferred.

  • CRM:   Experience in Sales Force or other CRM tools, as well as managing account information and pipeline
