Job Summary:
We are seeking for an experienced Sr. Financial Analyst to join our team, primarily supporting the US Regional HQ and Rakuten International business units. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will provide financial and analytical support, including review of accounting transactions and accrual preparation in accordance with GAAP, financial reporting and analysis, and budget/forecast preparation.

In this role, you will advise and support the business in areas related to future state financial performance including finance consulting and coaching (e.g., interpreting financial results and measures in the context of business operations). You will provide forward-looking financial insight into market conditions and alternative business scenarios. You will also improve the quality of internal and external financial data to drive business decision making and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts complex financial analysis, such as reviewing financial modeling, assessing financial performance, identifying trends, and providing detailed insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Plays a significant role in the budgeting and forecasting processes by developing accurate financial projections and monitoring actual performance against short- and long-term forecasts.
  • Compiles and presents detailed and comprehensive financial reports, analyzing complex financial data and presenting insights to management and key stakeholders.
  • Conducts in-depth analysis of market trends and industry benchmarks to provide comprehensive insights for strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Contributes to the development and execution of financial strategies aligned with the organization's goals by providing critical insights and guidance for long-term financial planning and growth initiatives.
  • Utilizes advanced financial tools and technologies to perform complex financial analysis, reporting, and modeling.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to support various financial initiatives and projects.
  • Contributes to weekly forecasting and annual planning processes, supporting Finance team members and business leaders as needed.
  • Performs a weekly and monthly review of the income statement, analyzing variance to budget, forecast, and prior year for each department; discusses key items with management and summarizes key issues in a monthly report.
  • Partners with Accounting Team on monthly close process.
  • Evaluates and interprets the budget impacts of personnel, operational expenses and allocations to cross-functional teams on a monthly basis and aligns with their forecasts.
  • Prepares and tracks KPIs, metrics, and business/operational trend data for dashboards and other management reporting for Rakuten International business units.
  • Completes ad hoc reporting and other miscellaneous projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years financial planning and analysis experience, including familiarity with U.S. GAAP as well as general financial modeling
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with other Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with SAP Business Planning and Consolidation, Workday Adaptive Planning, Oracle FP&A, Data Blend, or any other financial planning tools
  • Experience with Oracle, SAP, QuickBooks, or general ledger systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an aptitude for learning new systems and working with large amounts of data
  • High attention to detail with a willingness to review and research data
  • Proactive approach and curiosity around tasks such as seeking opportunities on projects, performing analysis, and making recommendations for improvements with a professional mindset; looking to develop leadership and future management skills
  • Adept at collaboration, with strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Able to listen, ask questions, and determine when information is sensitive or confidential
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and time to meet deadlines, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrate a steadfast commitment to carrying tasks through to completion, ensuring that all responsibilities are met with precision and diligence.
  • Persist through challenges, continuously seeking ways to improve processes and outcomes, and maintaining a focus on the strategic goals of the organization
  • Experience in a global organization and/or the high-tech services industry preferred

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5-7 years relevant work experience required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business required
  • CPA or MBA is preferred

Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location. USD $78,651.00 - $135,216.00 annually
