Job Summary:

We are looking for a Japanese bilingual Merchant Success Associate to help the onboarding and account management operations for cross border ecommerce sellers to Japan on Rakuten marketplace. Since we began our service for US merchants in 2016, the number of sellers and gross merchandise value from US to Japan has increased exponentially. We have helped and managed many lucrative US brands and retailers to enter the Japanese market and succeeded in developing a new revenue stream. If you enjoy supporting different businesses setting up the basic operations for a marketplace business, this role will provide a great number of opportunities to build international business skills and knowledge as well as working with major multi-national companies and brands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contact an assigned set of clients to educate / propose on how to use Ichiba dashboard, knowledge about Rakuten Ichiba marketplace, marketing & advertising on the platform, and any other topics pertaining to the accounts to grow top & bottom line.
  • Using both English and Japanese to coordinate operational tasks with teams in Japan and execute those tasks. Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Translation from Japanese to English or vice versa
  • Manage and make communication with merchants about past-due payments, new service launch, and online/offline events
  • Manage and update contents and tasks for sales / operational activities used by Merchant Development Team and / or Merchant Success Team
  • Lead and educate contractors and other team members about business operation and operation cycle
  • Maintain and share professional knowledge through education and presentations
  • Manage projects within the account management and shop open team
  • Manage the outsourced shop open operation, and at times assist firsthand
  • Maintain and share professional knowledge through education and presentations

  • Knowledgeable about the Japanese retail market and consumer preference

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluent or business proficient in both Japanese and English

Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location. The successful applicant for this role will be eligible for discretionary bonus, health, vision, dental insurance, 401k matching, PTO, Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and other employee benefits as the company implements.

USD $51,435.00 - $87,264.00 annually
