This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by creating innovative solutions to ensure our members unlock the full value of Rakuten Rewards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Co-Create Global Member Retention Strategy: Collaborate closely with product, design and marketing to co-create and refine the vision, goals, and technical strategy for more than 5 countries, ensuring alignment with market trends and emerging opportunities. Design thinking is a huge plus.
- Drive Operational Excellence: Oversee the entire product development lifecycle for Retention web and mobile applications, ensuring timely delivery of projects. Establish robust processes and uphold rigorous quality standards to ensure each product meets or exceeds expectations.
- Foster Trust and Transparency: Cultivate an environment of trust and openness within your team and with stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and effective collaboration.
- Build and Inspire a Stellar Team: Attract, motivate, and retain a diverse team of top-tier engineers, fostering an atmosphere where talent thrives and innovation flourishes.
- Empower Professional Growth: Guide the professional development of your direct reports through technical direction, personalized coaching, performance management, and mentorship, supporting their growth and career progression.
- Champion a Collaborative Culture: Join a dynamic and enthusiastic team, working together to tackle complex challenges in a supportive and engaging work environment.
Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the entire software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, deployments, and monitoring.
- Strong passion for optimizing developer productivity.
- Proven ability to build and maintain a high-quality, high intelligence engineering team.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and market demands.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster trust and transparency with stakeholders and team members.
- Experience with technologies such as Java, REST API development, Node.js, React, AWS, Kotlin, Swift, Kafka, relational databases, Rules Engine systems, LaunchDarkly, Iterable, and Hightouch is a huge plus
Minimum Requirements:
- 2+ years of progressive management leadership experience directing high visibility initiatives.
- 7+ years of experience in designing and architecting scalable systems, with strong expertise in web and mobile application development
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience with driving large scale and cross-functional projects to the finish line in timely fashion across the platforms

At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the base compensation for this role to be within the range shown below. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location. The successful applicant for this role will be eligible for discretionary bonus, health, vision, dental insurance, 401k matching, PTO, Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and other employee benefits as the company implements.
