Senior Quality Engineer

Gadsden, AL

Overview

We are looking for an experienced leader to become our Senior Quality Engineer. This pivotal position will include direct reports and serve as a successor to the plant quality manager. The ideal candidate will be tasked with managing and executing quality systems and processes, guaranteeing that our products adhere to the highest quality and reliability standards, while also guiding our team to meet our performance objectives and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement quality systems and processes to ensure that our products meet or exceed our standards and customer expectations.
  • Using SPC to drive process stability.
  • Analyze quality assurance data and initiate root cause and corrective action efforts to eliminate assignable causes that affect product quality.
  • Conduct quality audits, review data and analytics, and make recommendations for process improvements.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans to identify and address product defects and issues.
  • Lead and mentor other quality associates by providing guidance and support on projects and initiatives.
  • Partner with product engineering, process engineering and operations to reduce variability and scrap.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to quality systems and processes.
  • Train supervisors, technicians, and operators to improve adherence to the quality system.  
  • Performing capability studies to certify and validate manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hand's on experience in quality engineering or related field.
  • Must have experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
  • Experience with quality methods such as statistical process control, pareto, gage studies, capability analysis, design of experiments, etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor other team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with teams from product development, operations, supply chain, and other functional areas.

 

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree or certification in quality engineering or Six Sigma.
  • 7 + years of quality engineering 
  • Experience with thermal plastic extrusion or plastic injection molding.
  • Proficient with Minitab.
