Technical Team Lead, Policy Systems

The Lead Software developer for our Policy admin system is a senior member of the development team responsible for seamless execution of the development plan and guiding a team of developers to deliver high quality and efficient code. Successful candidates must be able to engage and clearly communicate with Team/Business Owners/Project Leads and other Business partners as needed during the development life cycle to achieve business and technology initiatives.

  • Leading complex technology initiatives including those that are company wide with broad impacts.
  • Assisting in planning by breaking down complex tasks and providing high level estimate on work effort.
  • Analyzing requirements and seek out clarification as needed in a timely fashion.
  • Working with development team to translate functional requirements into design documents.
  • Making good technical decisions that provide solutions. Thinking out of the box and considering the big picture when designing and implementing.
  • Coding, Unit Testing, and Implementing requirements for projects and programs.
  • Contributing to the development of standards and best practices for the team members to follow, based on industry best practices and project lessons learned.
  • Helping remove technical impediments that developers or other team members may encounter.
  • Conducting code reviews, validating, and managing CI/CD processes to execute deployment best practices.
  • Clearly and regularly communicating with team and business partners on progress and/or blockers.
  • Leading proof of concepts for new platform capabilities.
  • Resolving support cases that are escalated. Conducting impact and root cause analysis on all defects and develop solutions to prevent future defects.
  • Assisting or supporting production releases as needed.

This career is for you if you have:
  • 5+ years of development experience in relevant industry preferably Insurance.
  • Experience in configuration and development on OneShield platform - Transactions, Coverages, Rating, Workflows, UI, Job Configuration, Experience in implementing multiple LOBs, Forms Management, Administration, Account Management.
  • Experience in Integrating OneShield Policy admin system with internal and external applications leveraging OneShield API.
  • Hands on experience with JAVA. Experience with common web service technologies.
  • Experience with WebSphere, WebLogic, JBOSS, or similar application server implementation.
  • Hands on experience with relational databases and SQL.
  • Working knowledge of business systems integration and object-oriented design patterns.
  • Experience as a senior developer or team lead.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Willingness to both lead and execute in a fast-paced environment to match stakeholder expectations to deliver exceptional results.
