Project Lead IT, Claims Systems

About the role.

The Project Execution team within the technology organization manages all the IT projects associated with its respective division (underwriting, services, claims, billing, or digital). As a Project Lead, Claims Systems at PURE Insurance, you will play a key role in ensuring project objectives are met by defining/scoping and managing the project assigned to you while working closely with all stakeholders. Additionally, you will work to continuously improve how projects are executed as well as act as a coach and mentor to the development teams.

What you'll do.

Manage delivery of assigned projects.

  • Own end-to-end project delivery, including scope definition, maintaining backlog of features/stories (Day 1 vs Day 2) as well as socializing delivery plans to ensure alignment.
  • Directly manage a team of BSAs and QA Analysts as well as oversee development resources assigned to the project, providing guidance, establishing best practices, and ensuring their work satisfies project goals.
  • Leverage agile methodologies (e.g., scrum, kanban) to coordinate development and testing efforts with the team as well as across teams by breaking down the effort into smaller, manageable work items.
  • Report out on project progress/team capacity, outline dependencies/constraints, escalate issues as appropriate and make sure that projects meet deadlines.
  • Analyze post go-live metrics to assess the success of projects, identify areas for improvement, and make recommendations for future projects.

Manage scope and requirements working with business stakeholders and IT business analysts.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (Head of Projects, Functional Solutions Architect and Business) to understand business needs and drive solution blueprint- eliciting features, outlining process flows, story maps, as appropriate.
  • Provide guidance to business system analysts on elaborating requirements, authoring stories, defining acceptance criteria and obtaining sign offs. As well as accept stories at the end of the sprint, as appropriate.
  • Prioritize stories to be delivered for the release as well as facilitate the prioritization of user stories for sprint planning, balancing business priorities and technical requirements.
  • Organize and facilitate product demos to highlight progress to stakeholders and gather feedback as well as oversee creation and execution of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scripts and release notes.
  • Oversee the change management aspects for the IT project working with Ops, Training, and other stakeholders.

What we're looking for.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3+ years' experience working in P&C insurance strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years working with claims systems preferably Guidewire.
  • 5+ years related IT project management or product management experience.
  • Excel at leading, guiding, and coaching teams and has effective communication skills.
  • Strong experience working through execution on projects with agile teams and agile environments.
  • Strong consensus building skills and ability to convey technical concepts in a clear, understandable way.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and you enjoy exploring new solutions and challenging the status-quo.
  • Manage change and work well within a team-oriented, collaborative environment to accomplish goals.
  • Basic understanding of API integrations, ability to define use cases and basic knowledge of UI and UX.
  • Prior consulting experience preferred;experience in agile/scrum/kanban required.
  • This role occasionally may require you to work a few hours on a weekend and/or late night in support of the project.

The base salary for this role can range from $85K-$120K, based on a full-time work schedule. An individual's ultimate compensation will vary depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience.
