JOB SUMMARY
Serve as a principal underwriting contact and resource for the company's title agencies doing business as PGP Title in multiple states in order to ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements and to determine insurability of real estate transactions and minimize exposure arising from claims on policies issued by Premier and the other title underwriters. Support regulatory research and responses as needed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for providing national title underwriting support and services for affiliated title agents and determine risk and insurability of transactions written on affiliated and third-party title underwriters, and will be primarily responsible for the following:
- Underwrite real estate transactions to evaluate risk and determine insurability;
- Collaborate to develop underwriting policies, procedures and practices utilized by affiliated title agents;
- Support title agents on title, escrow and operational issues;
- Provide ongoing training support for affiliated title and escrow operations;
- Knowledge of RESPA and state affiliated business legal and regulatory requirements;
- Operational support for national underwriter, including, expansion applications, rate and form analysis and filing, and regulatory responses;
- Develop a national network of external underwriting support composed of attorneys and underwriters from various title insurers with which PGP Title has issuing agency agreements;
- Provide support to the Deputy General Counsel and Leadership Team in handling and management of general corporate matters, regulatory and licensing issues;
- Draft memos and provide training on underwriting, real estate and regulatory issues and changes in law;
- Review, revise and provide advice on leases, agency, and vendor contracts;
- Assist with claim review and investigation;
- Maintain expertise on title and escrow issues, regulations and developments.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Current bar membership (TX Preferred)
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Must be a licensed attorney with strong law school performance;
- Must have at least 5-years' relevant legal experience (5-8 years' experience preferred), with significant national/multi-state title underwriting experience and some title claims, general litigation, general corporate and title/insurance regulatory experience;
- Demonstrated education and training experience;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations;
- Demonstrated ability to lead individuals and obtain results through others;
- Ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and resolve issues on both strategic and functional levels;
- Ability to independently analyze and resolve complex underwriting, regulatory, legal issues or complaints;
- Legal research and writing skills;
- Microsoft Office and related applications expertise;
- Demonstrated reporting and data/trend analysis.
