Job Description:

An internship with PulteGroup Inc. offers a unique opportunity to expand your horizons in an exciting industry, gain hands-on experience, and build a strong foundation to support your long-term career goals. During your internship, you can expect to gain a holistic understanding of the home building industry by participating in a two-phase program with the first phase consisting of a rotational assignment in each department and the second phase consisting of meaningful project assignments in your department that support its goals and objectives. We also will invest in you and your continued development through centralized training and development opportunities throughout the summer. Lastly, you'll get to showcase what you've learned and achieved by closing your internship with a capstone presentation to the Division's leadership team.

Primary Responsibilities

Construction:

  • Take charge of select home projects, working closely with vendors, homeowners, and teammates to ensure we're delivering a high-quality home on schedule.
  • Learn about the world of building codes, materials, schedules, and methodologies that drive our business.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Procurement, Resource Planning, and Customer Care to define construction processes and execute an Exceptional Customer Experience and Superior Operational Execution.

Sales:

  • Observe while learning as the Sales Consultant serves as the first point of contact as they help educate and guide our potential homeowners on their dream homes.
  • Master the art of sales from start to finish, learning how to turn potential buyers into proud homeowners.
  • Understand metrics to run a better business: customer capture rates, sales volume, surveys, backlog, community management, and our build quality process.
  • Value creation: selling from a position of strength to include lot premiums, personalization VS packages, Pulte Mortgage & Pulte Insurance, and our industry-leading new home warranty.
  • Competitor shopping and determining unique selling propositions for communities based on what is found. This will be part of a project at the end.
  • Assisting the sales team on sales operational functions; i.e. entering change orders and various other administrative sales tasks.

Land:

  • Support office and field personnel in the engineering, permitting, budgeting, and construction oversight of residential communities
  • Attend meetings with consultants and contractors to assist in planning a large, multi-phase development
  • Analyze past costs of development to help create a database of key figures for use in future investment analysis
  • Visit construction sites to advance knowledge of development and review status
  • More detailed responsibilities will be assigned depending on the Intern's strengths and interests. In general, assist the team with acquisition, project management, and development

Required Education

  • Must have authorization to work in the United States.
  • Currently enrolled in a Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or Real Estate Development.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the time of application or graduation.

  • Added plus are students who are involved in extracurricular activities outside of their curriculum responsibilities (i.e., military, student organizations, leadership roles, student-athletes, NAHB student competition, etc.).

2024 Summer Internship Blueprint: In your 2024 internship role you will work alongside our experienced professionals and mirror that team's schedule and flexibility models. Please read each role's description and discuss it with your hiring team to best understand the team's expectations.

  • Application Dates: October 1, 2023 - April 28, 2024
  • Internship Dates: May 6, 2024 - August 9, 2024 (12 weeks)
    • Schedule may be adjusted based on individual student needs.
    • 40 hours per week
  • Compensation: All internships are competitively paid.
  • Format: Our operations internships are in-person in one of our 29 Division Offices and/or in our up-and-coming development communities.
    • Each intern will have the opportunity to shadow all the various functions that go into the homebuilding process. This will give you a holistic view and appreciation for the homebuilding industry and, who knows, may even spark an interest in an area you didn't know existed!
    • Internship may include a capstone presentation or final project.
