FOIA Reviewer/PA (levels A-C)

Position Summary:

Conduct a line-by-line review of documents identified by the Government as responsive to cases for segregated release. Reviews shall be completed with at least a 90% accuracy rate in accordance and application of the classification and declassification guides.

Essential Duties:

  • Write formal responses to FOIA and PA requests for Government review and approval.
  • Perform Government processing system database searches for responsive documents to FOIA and PA requests
  • Create tasking memos to Government organizations for FOIA and PA searches and provide instructions to those organization on the criteria for the search for government review and approval
  • Track outstanding actions and send reminders as necessary to client organizations
  • Perform case updates in the Government processing system
  • Enter metadata into the government processing system to facilitate the recall of the documents in support of future research
  • Ensure during the record review process that any equities falling under purview of external organizations be marked for referral or consultation
  • FOIA/PA receives approximately 2,000 new cases opened per year requiring initial processing and the processing team processes approximately 300 cases per year View each record and make recommendations as to whether the information remains appropriately classified and its potential for release
  • Apply redactions, select appropriate redaction/exemption codes, apply release stamps to documents and cases
  • Prepare correspondence to requestors or other agencies, creating a memorandum for the record for each case to document administrative actions taken in the case; this record also will include eth rationale for decisions to release Government information from documents
  • Export records form the Government processing system to provide to internal client stakeholders
  • Enter metadata into the Government processing system to ensure accurate recall of documents and cases
  • FOIA/PA reviewers process approximately 145 cases per year

Requirements:

  • An active/current TS/SCI FS Polygraph

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • 0-4 + years of experience performing the duties of this position
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems and applications
  • Ability to communicate effectively

Levels:
  1. 0-2 years of experience
  2. 2-4 years of experience
  3. 4+ years of experience
