We are currently seeking a multifaceted individual to become part of the Product organization leadership team as the Head of Stop Loss. This role will report into the Head of Product for the business and will be accountable for delivering profitable growth of the Medical Stop Loss product through ongoing management of the P&L, product offerings, and vendor relationship. The incumbent will drive alignment with underwriting, pricing, claims, and marketing to ensure the success of the overall product strategy. Additionally, they will be expected to cultivate a culture and approach where everyone feels ownership for the success of the business.

The Stop Loss product owner is responsible for building and leading the Stop Loss product team to include all aspects, including strategy, long-term roadmaps, new product development, distribution, and in-force management.

Through influence and interactions with functional partners and external partners, this individual will own and implement the roadmap to ensure profitable growth of the Stop Loss product.

The employee work arrangement forthis position may require your on-site presence at one our business locations. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the on-site expectations.

What you can expect:

The successful candidate's primary responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the Stop Loss product P&L, setting business goals and objectives, and getting results by coordinating various workstreams
  • Leading all aspects of Stop Loss product, including developing and actively managing the product strategy, product revisions, and underwriting guidelines as needed to address emerging issues, regulatory concerns, and business needs.
  • Developing and championing Prudential's Stop Loss value proposition, both from a corporate portfolio position and externally
  • Using data and analytics to evaluate business results and implement changes in underwriting and claims processes as needed
  • Analyzing Stop Loss market information as input to strategy, new product development, etc.
  • Collaborating with other functions in the business to ensure a profitable Stop Loss product including pricing, training, distribution, claims, etc.
  • Owning the lifecycle management of in-force Stop Loss business, including regular analysis of product performance
  • Assessing impact of regulatory changes and implementing changes
  • Managing and maintaining current product needs such as updating marketing materials, contracts, systems, surveys, and responding to audit requests
  • Developing external relationships and driving productive distribution strategy / actions.

Pivotal Experience & Expertise

Financial Services Experience: Experience leading in the Financial Services industry is highly preferable, particularly in the Group Insurance sector. Crucial for this position is deep knowledge of and direct experience with the Stop Loss business.

Stakeholder Management - Has successful relationship development and influencing skills having led successfully across multiple partners including distribution, operations, risk & controls, regulators, third-party vendors, and customers.

Strategic Mindset - Brings an innovative approach to building and maintaining a Stop Loss product organization leveraging external market information along with customer and segment insights.

Customer Centered - Ability to identify opportunities across domains and identify solutions to provide a unified customer experience across products and segments.

Talent/Culture Creator - Demonstrated ability in creating and instilling a culture that can attract, grow, and retain highly talented individuals committed to the vision of the organization. In addition, supports a culture of inclusiveness and diversity that develops and motivates employees. Willing to obtain any required designations, certifications or licensing as needed to fulfill the role.

The salary range for this role is from $224,500.00 to $303,700.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
