Your Team & Role
The Global Technology organization at Prudential is seeking a Vice President, Data Architect. Reporting to the Chief Architect, this role will lead the development of architecture principles, patterns, standards and reference materials to enable the creation of rich analytical and data science capabilities in new and existing platforms supporting multiple businesses and corporate functions.

This highly visible role will be a member of the Architecture leadership team, aligned with the Chief Data Office (CDO), responsible for working with peers and leaders across the enterprise to drive the creation of cohesive solutions that span architectural domains (e.g. infrastructure architecture, solution architecture), while working closely with partners within the CDO to ensure those solutions meet the specific needs of that organization.

This role requires a unique combination of skills: strong knowledge of data throughout its lifecycle from capture to storage to multi-channel consumption and disposition, deep technology knowledge to leverage automation wherever possible, the ability to work across and influence many partners (e.g. technology, business data stewards, regulatory, analytics) and both a strategic and technical mindset.

Here is What You Can Expect on a Typical Day
• Key thought leader, collaborator, and contributor, partnering across teams to define Architecture Patterns and Reference Architectures, and driving adoption to meet business and technology strategies.
• Define target state enterprise data architecture, including the strategy and architecture for creation and use of official data sources.
• Define and revise the enterprise data framework consisting of capabilities required of cross business and corporate function official data sources in the enterprise data architecture.
• Ensure new data initiatives and related projects are aligned to organization-wide target data strategy and architecture, including review and approval of key design documents.
• Define and review technical data standards and patterns and approve exceptions to standards. Ensure data architecture patterns are modern/current and built for reusability and can be easily explained and leveraged.
• In partnership with security architect, determine enterprise-wide strategy for data security, access and provisioning. Ensure technical data standards and data solution architecture designs align with security requirements and data governance policy objectives.
• Review and approve significant architectural changes in support of data quality remediation.
• Build reference architectures for use by CIO organizations and the CDO team that align with business and technology strategies.
• Provide solution architecture consultation and support for initiatives and product teams.
• Apply expertise in current /modern patterns and practices, across the disciplines of data management, data analytics and data science, to help realize our goal of creating differentiating, data-driven capabilities in the markets we serve.
• Apply Application Portfolio Management practices; maintain disposition for data domain applications and identify opportunities for modernization and rationalization
• Demonstrate a talent mindset by evangelizing architecture transformation, influencing adoption of the transformation, and driving modernization goals across product and data teams.

The Skills & Expertise You Bring
• Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Computer Science or Engineering.
• At least 10+ years of experience in data and information architecture and development fields including significant experience in data management, inclusive of cloud infrastructure.

• Foundational Technical & Conceptual Acumen:

  • Knowledge of modern data solutions using cloud data services in AWS and Azure.
  • Experience with implementing or owning metadata management tools, data exchange and quality platforms and master data management platforms.
  • Knowledge of/experience with emerging machine learning and cognitive computing paradigms including Generative or Conversational AI within Fintech is a plus.
  • Experience with enterprise level reporting, business intelligence (BI) and analytics toolsets as well as emerging technologies enabling more rapid deployment of data insight capabilities to a wider range of business consumers.
  • Strong knowledge of business process, data or information management, data flows, data quality standards. Analytical ability to work with data and present results.
  • Conceptual thinking and ability of doing some form of business process modeling (for example Event Storming, Design Thinking, etc.), solutions decomposition (for example DDD) and enterprise data modeling and cataloging.
  • Knowledge of agile methodology and practices.

• Modern Architecture Thought Leadership:

  • Strong knowledge of EA and Solution Architecture frameworks and best practice with awareness of current trends for new architectural patterns and concepts and the ability to apply those patterns and trends to help achieve business-focused transformation outcomes.

• Influencing, Building Relationships & Communication Skills:

  • Objective, diplomatic team player with excellent collaboration, networking, and influencing skills, as well as credibility and commitment to building trust and developing relationships.
  • Ability to clearly communicate the vision and target state and influence the adoption of enterprise architecture principles, patterns, reference architecture and standards to demonstrate progress on technology maturity.

• Prioritization Skills:

  • Accustomed to managing multiple efforts across different areas. Experience managing projects, budgets and schedules to successful completion.

• Outcome Management:

  • Demonstrated success of achieving specific, measurable, and concrete objectives aligned with business goals by tracking and reporting outcomes over a specified time.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, persistence, and resilience; comfort with and ability to thrive on and drive change while navigating ambiguity.

The salary range for this role is from $224,500.00 to $303,700.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
