About the Role
This specific role will be working within PGIM Investments, which is the distribution division of PGIM.
The PGIM Investments team is focused on the distribution of PGIM's asset management capabilities through financial intermediaries such as banks, wealth managers, family offices and insurance companies throughout Asia.
PGIM Investments is looking to grow the team in Hong Kong by hiring a high-calibre sales manager who will work closely with the head of Asia as well as the sales managers from both Hong Kong and Singapore to align on strategy and goals.
This is a unique opportunity for a driven sales professional to play a pivotal role in growing our business in Asia, on behalf of a leading global asset manager.
As a self-starter, the successful candidate will need to have an entrepreneurial mind set and a hands-on mentality. He/she should enjoy working in a start-up environment backed by a large well-resourced parent, be willing to collaborate internally and add value by being a proactive, forward thinking and high-energy team player.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients in Hong Kong
- Understand client needs and provide tailored investment solutions to continue building PGIM's partnerships in Hong Kong
- Work closely with the corresponding International Distribution sales teams (US, EMEA, APAC) for global firms to deliver a geographically seamless client experience.
- Proactively manage and resolve internal issues relating to winning business. Liaison with internal departments (marketing, compliance, legal, etc.) as part of the sales cycle.
- Work as part of a collegial team that shares ideas and best practices.
Sales process and responsibilities:
- Generating, preparing for and participating in client & prospect meetings and coordinating all follow up items.
- Handling prospect request through multiple channels (inbound research, web searches etc.).
- Representing PGIM at industry conferences / seminars, ensuring we maximize prospecting opportunities
- Deliver excellent client service through earning client trust so that the client has confidence in his/her ability to provide accurate and timely information and help with any problem resolution
Required Qualifications
- 5-7 years of financial services experience; intermediary sales experience a plus
- Educated to degree level or equivalent as a minimum requirement
- Languages: Proficiency in Cantonese and Mandarin- native or near native fluency. Ability to read, write and present in these languages effectively
Required Skills and Experience
- High-energy, enthusiastic and strong interpersonal skills, especially influencing and communication skills.
- The individual should possess a balance of sales, marketing and analytical skill sets, including a strong understanding of investment products.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills on all levels- in English, Cantonese and Mandarin
- The ability to manage several projects simultaneously, meet aggressive deadlines and work independently at times.
- Solid understanding of the Asian Private Wealth landscape, including knowledge of key private wealth firms in North Asia
- The candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of the capital markets and asset management - comfortable discussing financial topics (products and asset class characteristics, macro themes etc.).
- Demonstrate experience building new business (including cold calls and relationship building).
- Experience of presenting to prospects, advisors, clients or colleagues.
- Salesforce knowledge preferable. Strong command of Excel, PowerPoint and Word programs.
