What you will do

As a Lead Economist for EM Asia you will formulate macroeconomic outlook on China and other Asian emerging markets, and provide in-depth coverage, analysis, and research on Chinese and broader Asian macroeconomic, market, and political developments.

You will contribute to the investment process by collaborating with regional portfolio managers and the wider firm on actionable investment ideas across a range of fixed income assets within individual countries, across the region, and wider EM investment space.

You will also contribute to the formulation of the global outlook, research projects, and thought leadership activities and communicate with firms' clients on the topics related to your region and wider EM universe.

This is a hybrid role, with expectations of three working days spent in our office in Newark, NJ. The role will also require occasional travel to visit countries under your coverage or attend outreach events.

What you can expect

You can expect to work in highly collaborative, collegial environment, a culture of cooperation within and across teams, with colleagues with deep experience in economic research, portfolio management, and long track record of managing investments in emerging and global markets.

What you will bring

  • A minimum of 7+ years of direct experience in financial sector (such as investment bank, asset manager, or a rating agency) and policy setting (a central bank, national government, or an international or regional organization)
  • Familiarity with economies, markets, and policymaking environment of China and EM Asia
  • Solid theoretical and technical skills, familiarity with major databases and analytical software; knowledge of programming a plus
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills
  • Experience working effectively in a large organization
  • Advanced degree in economics or closely related field (masters or foreign equivalent, or a PhD)
  • Working knowledge of Mandarin

The salary range for this role is from $175,000 to $200,000. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
