What you will do

As a Manager of Accounting, you will be part of the accounting policy and financial controls team within PGIM controllers' group, where you will be responsible for determining the accounting policies for Product / Fund launches and Strategic initiatives such as Business acquisitions.

In this role, you will have significant exposure to PGIM's investment management businesses (i.e., public, and private fixed income, mortgage loans, equities, real estate, etc.) as well as Prudential's General Account investments managed by PGIM; in addition, you will have opportunities to work on PGIM Controllers' initiatives for the insurance businesses.

In this capacity, you will require significant coordination with business unit controllers, corporate accounting policy, and the financial shared services organization.

This position is based in our office in Newark, NJ . Our organization follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely and/ from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.

What you can expect

  • Assist with establishing accounting policy guidelines for new products and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist implementation efforts for new accounting standards.
  • Liaise with Corporate Accounting Policy Group to monitor new accounting policies and evolving standards.
  • Interact directly with the PGIM lines of business to understand the accounting implications of new transactions, real estate and debt fund structures, mortgage products, and fixed income products.
  • Support the PGIM Finance Team on U.S. GAAP and Statutory policies including support for quarterly reporting and emerging issues, as well as resolution of technical issues as they arise.
  • Responsible for various quarterly/annual close deliverables including preparing review materials for senior management.
  • Develop and support internal control requirements to ensure compliance with SOX/MAR and other external accounting policies and standards.
  • Lead SOX 302 & 404 processes for PGIM including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by auditors.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and disclosures for appropriateness under U.S. GAAP (10-K, 10-Q and stand-alone reports)
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key functional areas including PGIM Finance, Accounting Policy, Risk, and Treasurers among others.

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or related field.
  • Accounting advisory/research skills required.
  • Previous experience working for Big 4 Accounting firms.
  • Possesses high level verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with senior business and finance leadership teams.
  • Experience with SOX controls.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables and meeting deadlines.
  • The ideal candidate will be a natural leader with the ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders, prioritize objectives, and drive significant change in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
  • Strong PC skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to prioritize competing objectives, while maintaining attention to detail.

What will set you apart?

  • Prior working experience in financial services industry, banking, insurance industry and/or asset management is preferred.
  • M&A experience is a plus.
  • CPA or MBA a plus
  • Experience and desire to lead small teams is preferred.

The salary range for this role is from $115,000 to $145,000 Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
