The External Reporting - Investment Reporting team maintains a dual reporting role to both ALM senior management and Corporate Controllers and is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial results for the investment portfolio of PFI and its subsidiaries. Among its many responsibilities, the Group completes the quarterly/ annual GAAP investment disclosures in external filings such as the investment footnotes (PFI and stand-alone entities), General Account statement of cash flows, Management's Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), and Quarterly Financial Supplement (QFS). The Group also prepares investment disclosures for Statutory filings. In addition to reporting for external constituents, the Group contributes to several management reporting packages including the investment results review, earnings call preparedness materials, and Investment Committee exhibits and provides other investment-related support to various Corporate areas and Business partners. In doing so, the Group is able to interact and collaborate with colleagues within the department and across the organization.

What you can expect:

The Financial Reporting Specialist would primarily be responsible for executing assigned tasks and may have ownership of reporting processes and outputs as well as supervise junior team members (located offshore). The successful candidate will be expected to produce timely, accurate and reliable financial information and enhance their understanding of investment accounting and reporting. This role requires utilizing financial applications (Enterprise Financial Data Warehouse (EFDW), Essbase, GAAP Supplementals, Workiva) to generate investment data in the preparation and/or review of the team's deliverables including:

  • GAAP investment disclosures for SEC filings (footnotes and XBRL tagging)
  • GAAP investment cash flow and off-balance sheet reporting
  • Investment portfolio analysis for business partners and various Senior Management and Committee packages
  • Information requests from the Chief Investment Officer Organization, Enterprise Risk Management and various other business partners (standard, ad-hoc)
  • Coordination with control partners and external auditors during review processes
  • Identification and implementation of process enhancements and efficiencies

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1+ years relevant work experience; experience in financial services a plus
  • Self-motivated and proactive; highly organized, conscientious and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated analytical, conceptual and critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively to accomplish shared objectives
  • Supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership abilities a plus
  • Able to effectively prioritize and manage a complex workload in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with financial reporting applications (Oracle general ledger, EFDW, Essbase)
  • Experience with Workiva and XBRL tagging a plus
  • Knowledge of technical GAAP accounting principles and reporting requirements a plus
  • Knowledge of investment products a plus
  • Flexibility to work overtime as required during peak reporting cycles

It's be a plus if you had:

  • Experience in financial services
  • Knowledge of technical accounting principles and reporting requirements (SSAP and GAAP)
  • Knowledge of investment products
  • Experience with Prudential Financial systems (Oracle, Essbase, GAAP Supplementals & Financial Statements applications)
  • Supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership abilities

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $72,900.00 to $108,600.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
