Your Team & Role
The Global Technology organization at Prudential is seeking a Director, Solution Architect. The Director, Solution Architect will help advance the strategies of business and corporate functions around simplification and modernization of our technology stacks by focusing on the discipline of Enterprise Architecture (EA) and Business Architecture (BA). The Solution Architect is responsible for deploying efficient enablers and modern solutions that are consumable and available across the enterprise - US Businesses (Insurance, Retirement, Enabling Solutions, Marketing, PGIM), Corporate Functions, Prudential International Insurance and for providing architecture consulting on large, business critical programs and or initiatives that have high business visibility, impact and/or risk and complexity. In addition, this individual will help in establishing a business architecture strategy, practice, and processes in alignment with Prudential's strategic goals and solution architecture processes. This role requires a unique combination of skills: strong knowledge of our businesses and business processes, strong technical acumen, knowledge of Business Architecture and EA knowledge with emphasis on modern / current technologies and architecture patterns, strong ability to partner, educate, co-create and influence through architecture consultation.

Here is What You Can Expect on a Typical Day
• Key thought leader, collaborator, and contributor, partnering across teams to define and maintain Architecture Patterns, Reference Architectures and processes to ensure alignment with other Architecture domains (i.e. Data, Infrastructure, Security) and driving adoption to meet business and technology strategies
• Partner with engineering teams to explain and evangelize patterns and reference architectures, drive the adoption of architecture principles and patterns and influence implementation solutions in alignment with our modernization goals, principles, and patterns.
• Co-create and evaluate reference implementations that can be leveraged by engineering teams.
• Co-create implementation solutions and influence design solution architecture for alignment with EA patterns and standards (includes integrations, technology platforms, capacity, and performance management plan) and for alignment with business strategies and enterprise goals. Identify and classify technology debt where solutions deviate from alignment; influence teams to modernize and avoid technology debt.
• Ensure new initiatives and related projects are aligned to organization-wide target state architecture, including review and approval of key design documents.
• Ensure architecture standards and solution architecture designs align with security requirements.
• Review new technology use cases, define/design Enterprise Architecture Review Board (EARB)-approved architecture patterns, and build accelerators (e.g., code templates, reference architectures) to enable rapid adoption and implementation by Application and Platform Product Teams.
• Study the market and industry to proactively identify tech-forward opportunities to solve complex new business and technology challenges and take advantage of the new opportunities that come with technology innovation.
• Recommend new technologies to address challenges or deliver solutions where existing technology doesn't exist, existing technology doesn't adequately meet business needs, or new technology delivers better outcomes (e.g., higher performance, lower cost, etc.).
• Evaluate the application portfolio; apply Application Portfolio Management practices and influence application disposition for the application portfolio.
• Partner with business and technology teams to align and embed Business Architecture within our processes.
• Co-create a standard set of business capabilities and value streams to be used as part of Application Portfolio Management
• Demonstrate a talent mindset by evangelizing architecture transformation, influencing adoption of the transformation and driving modernization goals across the enterprise.

The Skills & Expertise You Bring
• Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Computer Science or Engineering.
• At least 7+ years of technology experience in Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture and Business Architecture
• Foundational Technical & Conceptual Acumen:
• Deep understanding of programming concepts and a history of building and architecting a diverse set of applications with experience of the integration of applications to support business and technology processes.
• Knowledge of modern application architectures and solutions using cloud services in AWS and Azure.
• Conceptual thinking and ability of doing some form of business process modeling (for example Event Storming, Design Thinking, etc.), solutions decomposition (for example DDD) and enterprise data modeling and cataloging.
• Deep knowledge of business processes and business and technical capabilities, preferably in financial services industry and applying that knowledge through application portfolio management processes.
• Knowledge of business architecture strategies, processes and the implementation of business architecture practices
• Knowledge of agile methodology and practices.
• Modern Architecture Thought Leadership: Strong knowledge of EA and Solution Architecture frameworks and best practice with awareness of current trends for new architectural patterns and concepts and the ability to apply those patterns and trends to help achieve business-focused transformation outcomes.
• Influencing, Building Relationships & Communication Skills:
• Objective, diplomatic team player with excellent collaboration, networking, and influencing skills, as well as credibility and commitment to building trust and developing relationships.
• Ability to clearly communicate the vision and target state and influence the adoption of enterprise architecture principles, patterns, reference architecture and standards to demonstrate progress on technology maturity.
• Prioritization Skills: Accustomed to managing multiple efforts across different areas. Experience managing projects, budgets and schedules to successful completion.
• Outcome Management:
• Demonstrated success of achieving specific, measurable, and concrete objectives aligned with business goals by tracking and reporting outcomes over a specified time.
• Entrepreneurial spirit, persistence, and resilience; comfort with and ability to thrive on and drive change while navigating ambiguity.

The salary range for this role is from $160,700.00 to $217,300.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
