Your Team & Role

As the Digital Forensics & Incident Response Director within the Cyber Defense & Response organization, you will manage and lead a team of highly technical security professionals focused on the continued enhancement of enterprise capabilities tied to responding to cyber security incidents. You will bring strategic vision and technical capability to the team to further enhance and develop the cyber incident response program. Likewise, you will focus on the continuous professional development of the team through various means including internal training sessions, knowledge sharing, and occupational mentorship.

You will work on extremely complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables. In addition to deep technical expertise and experience, you will bring excellent problem solving, communication and teamwork skills, along with agile ways of working, strong business insight, an inclusive leadership attitude and a continuous learning focus to all that you do.

Here is What You Can Expect on a Typical Day

  • Responsible for Digitl Forensics & Incident Response (DFIR) quality control - ensure peer and supervisory review of investigative findings and work products.
  • Responsible for distinct control function escalations such as those originating from the Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC), Information Security Office (ISO), and external entities.
  • Manage projects related to DFIR readiness such as integration into new BU processes, new technology and incident readiness, and introduction of resiliency improvements.
  • Investigative case management to include formal documentation, reporting, chain of custody, and evidence disposition.
  • Risk management of information security, technology risk, and non-technical areas such as legal, fraud, privacy, and reputation risk.
  • Identify process and resiliency improvement areas; propose changes.
  • Bring a deep understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, give technical direction to team members, and embed learning and innovation in day-to-day occupational duties.
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of innovative security principles and theory.

The Skills & Expertise You Bring

  • Advanced experience responding to cyber incidents in a large corporate/government environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing technical teams.
  • Experience with enterprise technologies such as Entra ID/Active Directory, O365, Azure, AWS, Windows, Linux, macOS, etc.
  • Advanced experience using SIEM and EDR query languages (SPL, KQL, etc.)
  • Knowledge of common scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
  • Experience using commercial and open source forensic software (X-Ways, EnCase, KAPE, TSK, Volatility Framework, etc.).
  • Experience performing host, log, memory, and network-based forensics.
  • Experience performing static and dynamic malware analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of adversarial threat frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and Lockheed Martin's Cyber Kill Chain.
  • Ability to lead independently with minimal guidance and effectively leverage diverse ideas, experiences, thoughts and perspectives to the benefit of the organization.
  • Ability to learn new skills and knowledge on an on-going basis through self-initiative and tackling challenges.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication and collaboration skills.

Significant experience and/or deep expertise with several of the following:

  • Digital Forensics & Incident Response
  • Insider Risk Investigations
  • Threat Hunting and Adversary Emulation
  • DFIR Automation and Engineering
  • Cyber Threat Intelligence

Preferred qualifications:

  • Industry standard certifications (CCE, EnCE, GCFE, GCFA, GCIH, GREM, GNFA, GPEN, etc.)

The salary range for this role is from $160,700.00 to $217,300.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
