Network-wide Math/Science Substitute Teacher

Job Summary:

The Network-wide Math/Science Substitute is part of the Academic Team and reports directly to the Director of Math and Science. The focus of the Network-wide Math/Science substitute will be to support the math and science team with classroom coverage across the K-12 network, working closely with classroom educators to pull small groups and run stations, supporting classroom instruction during periods of student conferencing and goal setting, and supporting classroom educators with the implementation of positive testing culture. The Network-wide Math/Science Substitute will work with the Director of Math and Science to develop a deep understanding of the organization's data, suggested instructional pedagogy, and math and science curriculum.

Math and science educator support may include co-planning and co-teaching. All coverage assignments will be scheduled by the Director of Math and Science and at no point will the Network-wide Math/Science Substitute serve as a building substitute nor a long term substitute for vacancies.

Key Job Elements & Responsibilities:

  • Cover math and science classrooms so that classroom educators can observe TLC classrooms, participate in data meetings, and goal setting with scholars.
  • Support math and science classrooms with co-teaching and implementation of small groups and stations.
  • Support math and science classrooms with positive testing culture and testing practices.
  • Develop an understanding of math and science curriculum and network instructional data.
  • Develop an understanding of math and science instructional pedagogy and best practices.
  • Communicate regularly with the Director of Math and Science to ensure a holistic approach to math and science instruction at Propel.
  • Review weekly assignments the prior week to set a calendar and prepare to support.
  • Perform other responsibilities related to math and science teaching and instruction as discussed and assigned by the Director of Math and Science.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in education and PA certification

Preferred:

  • Experience in urban education
  • Experience teaching math and/or science

  • Act 114 FBI Clearance
  • Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Mandated Reporter Training
  • Act 168 Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure
  • Act 24 Arrest and Conviction Disclosure

Salary: $40,000 annually.
