Title: Academic Coach

Location: Propel McKeesport

Propel seeks an Academic Coach for Propel McKeesport. This position is a year-round position and starts July 1, 2025.

The Academic Coach analyzes data and works with the Academic Team and School leadership teams to understand assessment data and generate effective responses to the scholars' academic needs. The coach is assigned to specific schools and his/her priority is to support the advancement of academic performance and MTSS systems and structures through coaching and data literacy.

The Academic Coach upholds network goals and priorities by supporting curriculum and instruction in alignment to Propel's data and state standards/eligible content. This support will be conducted through curriculum development and revisions, data analysis, coaching and professional learning.

Responsibilities

  • Thorough understanding and implementation of MTSS systems and structures
  • Extracts, reviews and analyzes data, and supports educators and leaders with data literacy skills
  • Aligns Tier 1, 2, and 3 resources to support instruction and learning
  • Implements coaching cycles in collaboration with content directors and school leaders in support of educator growth
  • Implements professional learning around curriculum, best practice, standards alignment and data literacy
  • Reviews curriculum and instructional practices to ensure standards alignment
  • Supports the development and implementation of positive and productive testing environments
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Director of Academics

Skills

  • Experience in analyzing data and using results to provide intentional instructional moves to help every scholar succeed
  • Successful experience with providing professional development to improve instructional effectiveness
  • Has demonstrated academic growth with scholars
  • Exceptional communicator who can recognize the needs of various stakeholders and problem solve effective solutions
  • Technology savvy for web-based instructional techniques and tools, computer proficiency, including Google Applications, and internet tools
  • Knowledge of DRC portal and Propel reporting systems
  • Excellence in time management, organization, multi-tasking, prioritization, and follow-through
  • Models a Growth mindset - You seek feedback, are eager to implement it, and are unafraid to push yourself, your team, and our schools and network to strengthen educator practices and improve scholar outcomes

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of teaching experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred in Education field
  • Previous coaching experience preferred
  • Level II Certification Preferred

Benefits:

  • Compensation: Based on relevant prior work experience, the salary range for this role is $58,146- $99,960 (year 3, Group F of salary scale)
  • Health Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision plan options at a low cost for individual employees and families.
  • Retirement: New hires participate in a 403(b); Propel contributes 5% automatically and matches up to 4%. This increases after 5 years.
  • Paid Leave: In addition to 2 paid Wellness Days annually, all teachers receive 5 sick days and 10 Personal Days
  • Tuition Assistance: Reimbursement of up to $3,000 annually upon completion of course and receipt of grades for coursework that meets our eligibility requirements.
  • Wellness Benefit: Reimbursement of $20 per month for wellness activities including Gym Memberships, health programs, etc. Additionally, staff have the ability to earn up to $300 for participation in a Wellness Program each year.
  • Professional Development: At Propel, we believe in supporting teacher growth and provide substantial school-based and network-wide professional development support for teachers, including an extensive onboarding process called Induction for new teachers with on-going annual support during the school year called Immersion. All teachers receive 11.5 network-wide Professional Development days annually in addition to school-specific Professional Development.
  • Leadership & Career Development: Leadership opportunities are extensive at Propel, both in and outside of the classroom. Staff have the opportunity to apply for Leadership Pathways as content, grade level or other school-based support roles which allow for experience in many different areas including Content, Wellness, Technology and more.
