Firewall/Network Security Engineer
Schaumburg, IL, Hybrid
Firewall Network Security Engineer role will report to Primient’s Security Team and will be responsible for next generation firewall management (Palo Alto) maintenance, troubleshooting and configuration:
- The ability to aide with the following areas: NAC; VLAN/LAN/SDWAN;
- Network security for cloud (Azure).
- This work could also include conducting, or working across IT to conduct, risk based technical security configurations and rules for network security controls.
- Experienced in firewalls, proxy, packet filtering, routing protocols, next-gen functions, and security rules.
- Other activities include maintaining and ensuring compliance with security policies, procedures and standards related to the performance of technical activities in support of the security program service levels and objectives.
- Successful candidate will be organized and have the ability to navigate multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while working within Primient’s ITIL processes
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study or equivalent work experience.
- Experience: 5+ years of Network Operations experience in complex environments and a working knowledge of computer networking and platforms, including (but not limited to) network operating systems, NGFW’s, wireless security, proxies, DNS/DHCP, routing protocols (LAN/WAN/VLAN), VPN (Global Protect), NAC, and network architecture
- Hands-on experience in implementation, troubleshooting & administration of Palo Alto firewalls, threat prevention modules, Panorama mgmt. platform
- Knowledge on cloud solutions for Network Security (Azure)
- A high level of demonstrated organizational skill supporting business and process analysis and process implementation in moderately complex environments
- Strong prioritization skills and able to handle multiple tasks effectively
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently
- Active problem solver, working across multiple IS and business teams for solutions.
- Strong business knowledge / acumen.
- Articulate appropriately both in written and oral form, and collaborate with multiple teams regarding security and privacy obligations and duties
Desirable:
- CCNP - Security
- CCSA/CCSE
- CISSP
Please note that while this range reflects the full spectrum of compensation available for this role, individual compensation will be determined based on several factors including your experience, skills, and alignment with the role's responsibilities.
