DUTY DAYS/HOURS:Monday - Friday 9 AM - 12:30 PM

LOCATION(S): Grant, Franklin, Jefferson, McDaniel, Roosevelt

All positions are contingent on enrollment of students. It is essential that applicants remain available until the registration process is complete. We will, however, make earlier commitments as definite positions become evident.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

These positions are for the Leap into 9th Grade summer program which will focus on preparing incoming 9th grade students for high school success using a curriculum that includes growth mindset, math content with AVID strategies, and career exploration. The program will combine core academic content with an introduction to the school's culture, and will develop students' ownership of their own personal and academic growth mindset. Students may receive a .5 elective credit.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Provide instruction to students at appropriate levels in the subject matter for which the teacher is assigned.
  2. Provide instruction, organization, and management in the classroom, which creates an environment conducive to learning.
  3. Evaluate the student's academic progress, maintain appropriate records, prepare reports, and communicate with parents or guardians on the individual student's progress.
  4. May coordinate and lead classified employees who are assigned to assist the teacher.
  5. Follow established curriculum programs and able to integrate the Common Core State Standards in the content area teaching.
  6. Take proper care of furnishings and materials within the classroom, including instructional resources, technology, and media equipment.
  7. Attendance and grades will be posted utilizing the Synergy Student Information System and grade book.
  8. Perform related duties as assigned.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment: Work is performed primarily in an elementary, middle, K-8, alternative and/or high school campus environment with extensive student, parent and public contact and frequent interruptions.

Hazards: Potential conflict situations. Employees may be subject to temperature extremes, fumes, odors, dust and exposure to bodily fluids and blood.

Physical Demands: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a school classroom, playground and campus setting; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other classroom, library and business equipment; sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time; kneeling, bending at the waist; lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying school equipment, supplies and materials weighing up to 25 pounds; repetitive hand movement and fine coordination to use a computer keyboard; emotional stability to work effectively under pressure and to keep all aspects of the job under control; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read, prepare and assure the accuracy of documents.

LICENSURE/ENDORSEMENT REQUIREMENTS:

All teachers must be properly licensed by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission as a Professional Educator.

PAY RATE: Current PPS PAT Educators who hold a regular school year position will be paid their current hourly rate of pay, but not less than the hourly summer school rate. All other hires (including current PAT Educators in a temporary assignment) will be paid $47.25 per hour.
