POLITICO Live is seeking a Summits Intern to join its Brussels-based Events team starting in August-September for a period of 4 months.

In this role, you will contribute to the overall production of POLITICO summits, and you will learnhow to recruit and managetop-level speakers, draft content for our marketing communications, streamline regular communication with events sponsors and coordinate the successful web and live delivery of the event.

As Summits involve cross-platform elements (print and online) and the input of many different constituents, the Summits Intern interacts with colleagues from a wide range of departments across the company, including Editorial, Sales, Marketing, and Logistics.

What You'll Do

Program development:

  • Train with the Live Editor and Program Manager to support the development of summit programs that align with newsroom and market needs
  • Research key stakeholders and conduct research calls to identify prominent topics and appropriate speaker candidates
  • Monitor competitor landscape and industry trends to help position POLITICO summits on the market

Speakers' recruitment and management:

  • Train with the LiveEditor and Program Manager to recruit and manage speakers
  • Prepare and send speaker invitations, track progress on speaker recruitment and remain proactive in speaker booking via email and phone communication
  • Set up pre-summit briefing calls with speakers as well as supporting documentation
  • Manage some speaker liaison throughout the project development and onsite at the summit
  • Train to create and update summit microsites and online agenda
  • Train to work with Asana to track and support summit management throughout the production process

Clients' relationship assistance:

  • Assist with the preparation of weekly calls, and implementation of client benefits (logo visibility, guest registration, briefing documents, etc.)
  • Assist with the on-site coordination of sponsor exhibitions, pre-summit dinner, guest registration etc.

Logistics:

  • Assist with the coordination of pre-summit logistics preparation including printed and digital materials, badge and audience management, sponsor and speaker VIP experience and management
  • Prepare all the necessary materials to deliver a smooth summit from pre to post-summit

Marketing support:

  • Support in the preparation of marketing content and creatives for emails, social media, digital and print

What You'll Need

  • Ongoing studies (Bachelor or Master)
  • Ability to multitask, excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of the function of the European Union and the process of its policies
  • News savvy, enthusiastic about digital journalism and the political sphere
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages, such as French, German, Spanish and/or Italian is a plus

Additional Internship Information

Internships generally last three to four months. This position is only available for student training as part of university or graduate coursework. Please note that as per Belgian regulations, internships that are part of university or graduate coursework cannot be paid, however, compensation toward lunch and transport to the office is provided. During the course of their internship, all interns will need to be located in Belgium as our offices are in Brussels.
