This person will play a critical role at the intersection between our newsroom, data, product and commercial teams. They will be responsible for developing a compelling and cohesive strategy and roadmap with our newsroom leadership team, that aligns with our coverage and audience ambitions. This role will be about formulating ideas, thinking about future editorial products and changing or assessing current editorial products. It will be essential to ensure the roadmap is deliverable and in line with newsroom priorities and resources. In this role, a creative and strategic mindset that is audience and data-led is essential.

We're looking for someone with a news media background who has expertise with leaders, navigating the priorities across newsrooms and business teams alike. This role requires building new structures and workflows, understanding digital media strategies and connecting the dots across our newsroom.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with newsroom leadership and Audience team across Europe to ensure product prioritization is clear and that audience and goals have been defined amongst editorial teams for new and existing products.
  • Collaborate with our Audience team to determine the right framework and process that can be applied across all components of the newsroom and commercial partnership; product roadmap and implementation; and assign a set of measures of success.
  • Work with Audience and Newsroom leadership to identify, analyze and review growth opportunities for coverage in specific markets, and adjust digital strategies and resources as a result. Build feedback frameworks to assess performance throughout the year.
  • Lead the planning for the newsroom of cross-functional projects between product, data, technology and commercial that are structured, collaborative and create accountability across teams;
  • Ensure communication across newsroom teams, especially the head of the Production desk and Director of Engagement to ensure those teams have information they need to deliver on operational execution and launch
  • Support newsroom leadership and pull together project descriptions and presentations to highlight newsroom editorial strategy and vision for non-newsroom teams (incl. advisory decks, Collaboration Days)
  • Stay on top of competitive landscape across local and global media and technology
  • Increase audience, product and data informed thinking across our global newsrooms

What You'll Need:

  • 6+ years of experience in internal strategy, product development or audience and data roles.
  • A successful track record in managing newsroom or business initiatives that have had a high impact.
  • Experience bringing teams together and partnering with cross-functional roles to solve complex challenges.
  • Proven record of accomplishing data-driven growth and combining editorial coverage with product strategies.
  • Proven ability to analyze, evaluate and make recommendations on strategic questions.
  • An ability to deliver projects in a timely manner, with a professional and calm nature and a high level of discretion.
  • Strong communication skills: can synthesize ideas and thinking in writing and in speech, can present strategy and timelines, and deliver vision to leadership and teams to ensure buy-in and successful execution.
  • Be a problem solver and action-oriented - can structure, break down, and solve complex issues.
  • A detail-oriented mindset, self-starter and rigorous approach to results.
  • An interest in driving innovation and fostering an experimental environment.
  • An active contributor to fostering a collaborative and diverse workplace culture.
