The POLITICO Research & Analysis Division is seeking a Business Development Associate (BDA) passionate about supporting a developing and growing business and prospecting new markets.

The Business Development Associate is an essential part of the POLITICO Research & Analysis Division sales team.

The role is ideal for goal-oriented candidates looking to develop valuable sales experience with an interest in business and policy looking to develop valuable sales experience. The position requires a highly organized and resilient individual who has excellent attention to detail and strong business acumen. The individual must be an excellent communicator who is adaptable and used to working within a fast-paced environment. It is essential that this person can use their own initiative while being a team player. A keen understanding of public affairs, government affairs, and communications is helpful.

This is a full-time position located in Brussels and may involve some travel in Europe.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Identify and contact prospective clients using both in-bound leads and prospecting strategies, including cold-calling
  • Schedule quality visits with top-tier contacts through consistent and creative outreach
  • Research potential clients to build a robust pipeline of prospects & identify key information to prepare the team for sales appointments
  • Coordinate meeting logistics and prepare marketing materials
  • Assist the Business Development Manager throughout the evaluation process to ensure prospective clients receive the highest quality information
  • Provide client analysis & leads reports
  • Periodically attend POLITICO and industry events to identify potential prospects

Qualifications :

Required qualifications:

  • 2 years professional experience (including internship/externship roles)
  • A university degree
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and strong client service ethic
  • Written and verbal fluency in English
  • Proactive team player who can use their own initiative to develop a strong pipeline for the Sales Team
  • Performs well under pressure
  • Able to prioritize and recognize business critical matters and multitask
  • Flexible and adaptable working style
  • Outgoing nature and a can-do attitude

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with the Microsoft Suite, especially PowerPoint to be used in presentations
  • Exposure to Salesforce or other CRM tools
  • Fluency in French or German is a plus
  • Interest in current European political and policy issues
