As a PitchBook Industry Research Analyst, you’ll join a growing research team focused on creating best-in-class private equity and middle market research utilized by PitchBook’s global clientele of private capital investors, investment banks, corporations, and other service providers. Our team is creative, driven, and focused on providing actionable and differentiated industry research to our readers and clients. Specifically, we are looking for a senior analyst to help expand our coverage of private markets investment in the industrials sector.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Help develop and lead PitchBook’s coverage of the industrials space, which consists primarily of providing proprietary data-driven research to elucidate funding and investing trends across the middle-market landscape 
  • Engage with investor and corporate clients to support thesis development, due diligence, competitive intelligence, market mapping, business development, and other use cases 
  • Create an industrials taxonomy and industry categorization that enables PitchBook clients to quickly locate companies and follow trends within specific segments of the industrials landscape 
  • Consistently publish research that provides clients with up-to-date industry overviews, market trend analysis, subsector landscapes and ecosystems, independent commentary, and outlooks related to potential threats and opportunities 
  • Utilize proprietary PitchBook data and a variety of other resources including third-party research and industry contacts to inform and develop actionable analysis 
  • Support research-driven sales efforts to help new and existing clients use and discover PitchBook’s research offerings 
  • Manage direct-to-client distribution channels for published notes and reports 
  • Contribute to internal platform development efforts to enhance how research is discovered and distributed within PitchBook’s proprietary research platform
  • Work closely with data analysis team to identify unique data points to support research, while also creating visual analyses that clearly illustrate the information 
  • Manage and respond to inquiries from clients, press, internal colleagues, and the public regarding published research 
  • Support and mentor junior and associate analysts through their development 
  • Serve as research point of contact for various speaking engagements and press requests 
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors 
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or another related subject preferred. Strong understanding of financial concepts such as valuation techniques (discounted cash flow, comps, etc.), internal rate of return, asset allocations, fund benchmarks, KPIs, and more  
  • 3+ years of research experience, either in equity research, investment banking, private equity, or other related financial services or business development role 
  • Strong interest in or knowledge of private market transaction activities 
  • Strong interest in or knowledge of the industrials landscape (i.e., infrastructure, manufacturing, packaging, transportation, etc.) 
  • Ability to work with other research analysts to share ideas, create joint research, and build a culture of collaboration 
  • Detail oriented/analytical mindset 
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to write clear and insightful research reports
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily

Compensation

  • Annual base salary: $150,000-$200,000
  •  Target annual bonus percentage: 10%

 

*Starting pay will be based on several factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be different ranges for candidates by location. 

 

Working Conditions:

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
