The Manager, Instructional Design (ID), leads a small team of talented instructional designers and plays a key role in successfully meeting learning and development priorities that support the growth of our business and employees. This role manages the portfolio of instructional projects while directing, coaching, and supporting instructional designers to create high-quality learning experiences for PitchBook employees and customers. They will also work as a “player-coach” designing learning solutions on a limited number of projects. A successful candidate will combine their experience from people management, designing and measuring the effectiveness of learning solutions, and knowledge of design methodologies, processes, and tools to serve the learning needs of a fast-paced, global business environment. 

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of instructional designers, providing vision, direction, guidance, development, coaching, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality learning experiences and solutions 
  • Oversee the end-to-end instructional design process, ensuring the development of effective and learner-centric training materials 
  • Maintain and continuously improve a service-oriented framework for designing learning in collaboration with Learning and Development (L&D) colleagues, SMEs, project sponsors, and stakeholders to ensure partnerships and operations are effective 
  • Manage the portfolio of ID projects, including resourcing projects based on demand, prioritization, and capabilities of the design team 
  • Monitor the timeline, progress, and completion of design deliverables across multiple project workstreams 
  • Provide thought-leadership on ID approaches and recommend solutions for internal training for employees globally, as well as solutions for customers 
  • Continuously review feedback and data and assess the effectiveness of the learning experience and solution design to make improvements 
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, tools, and best practices in ID and incorporate innovative approaches into our learning experiences and solutions while inspiring others to do the same 
  • Mentor, coach, and develop others on ID approaches and adult learning methodologies 
  • Model instructional design best practices when designing and developing instructionally-sound learning solutions and experiences 
  • Prioritize, develop, and execute instructional design quality standards that set a high bar for learning experiences and align with PitchBook’s values, voice, culture, and brand 
  • Learn multiple systems and processes quickly, proactively improve processes, and inspire others to do so as well 
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, encouraging creativity and excellence in ID 
  • Identify gaps and apply appropriate evaluation strategies while analyzing learning experience data, metrics/KPIs to gauge impact, and recognize progress 
  • Build and manage partnerships and relationships and represent the ID team 
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors 
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience managing ID team(s), and/or a learning and development shared services team designing multi-modal learning solutions 
  • 7+ years in an ID role and/or related role(s) within the learning and development field, preferably in a SaaS or technology environment 
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field or equivalent experience required. Master's degree is a plus 
  • Strong people management and project management skills, with the ability to effectively allocate resources, manage individuals/team, track progress, proactively solve problems, and meet deadlines 
  • Proficient in instructor-led and virtual instructor-led training design and delivery tools, e-learning authoring tools, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and multimedia content creation (Storyline, Captivate, animated video, Adobe Premiere, Audition, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.) 
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills (both written and oral), with the ability to present recommendations to peers, stakeholders, and senior leaders. Influence best practices and work effectively with cross-functional teams 
  • Demonstrated expertise in learning experience design and ID best practices within a corporate learning environment with emphasis on assessing program effectiveness and making data-driven decisions  
  • Possess a creative and innovative mindset to ensure the team develops engaging and effective learning experiences that can be sustained and scaled 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and prioritize and execute through others, with a high level of quality and attention to detail  
  • Work well independently and as part of a team 
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily
  • Experience with Asana or Scrum/Agile project management is preferred 
  • Proprietary learning management and other topic-specific content (ex. Cornerstone) is a plus

Compensation

  • Annual base salary: $120,000-$140,000
  • Target annual bonus percentage: 15%

 

*Starting pay will be based on several factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be different ranges for candidates by location. 

 

Working Conditions:

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
