You are responsible for

In this role as Embedded Control Engineer, you will focus primarily on design of electronics, controls, and embedded control firmware to support the development and maintenance of superconducting MRI magnet products and technologies. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop real time applications for Embedded Linux and single board computer solutions.
  • Develop new solutions for embedded control and logging of sensor networks.
  • Work with legacy firmware code base, assisting in upgrades and maintenance.
  • Developing and executing firmware design verification activities, including analysis, similarity, and testing. Validate controller performance against customer expectations.
  • Analyzing field and manufacturing issues related to electronic controllers and providing solutions where required.
  • General design activities such as requirements management, materials and component selection, Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and tolerance analyses.

The Development Engineering team works in close collaboration with Design & Drafting, Project Management, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, and Quality team members throughout the product development lifecycle. The Development Engineering office is co-located with manufacturing, so they can see the products come to life and work closely with manufacturing to ensure the final product meets the expectations of the customer.

Required Experience
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with a focus on firmware or embedded device programming.
  • Understanding of control theory and experience generating control algorithms
  • Be able to interpret hardware schematics to configure firmware for micro controllers.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems, such as Linux (Ubuntu/Debian), or FreeRTOS.
  • 4+ years of experience with Real-time control functionality implementation in C/C++
  • Experience with communication protocols, such as I2C, SPI, RS232, RS485.
Desired Experience
  • ARM-Ax and ARM-M4 processor and development environment and toolchain experience.
  • Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow with Embedded Coder Development.
  • Basic proficiency in other programming languages and tools such as Python, Java and Visual Basic
  • Experience working with medical devices development and Avionics Products

Philips Transparency Details:

The pay range for this position is $85,000- $155,000.00 annually. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors including, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered. Employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive Philips Total Rewards benefits program, which includes a generous PTO, 401k (up to 7% match), HSA (with company contribution), stock purchase plan, education reimbursement and much more.
