What You Will Achieve

Provides financial support for a portfolio of high priority early and late-stage assets primarily in Oncology but could span the categories across all of Pfizer R&D, including 3rd party co-development medicines. Examples of high priority assets include Tier 1 designated programs, those that involve complex co-development arrangements, medicines with multiple indications, medicines with large active budgets, those that include discussions with external partners or are in business development discussions, etc... Overall budget managed is ~$250-300M. Lead Operating Plan and forecast discussions with cross functional teams and propose options to address gaps and optimize costs and capital allocation.

How You Will Achieve It

Role Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Oncology Global Product Teams (GPTs) and sub-teams to provide business counsel, financial leadership, and identify / deliver cost efficiencies to optimize costs of new programs / studies and ensure budget compliance.
  • Routinely interact with R&D Finance VP, R&D Category Finance Leads, Oncology Leadership Team members, Oncology Global Team Leads, and 3rd Party organizations to proactively manage the financials of the overall category portfolio and drive investment decisions.
  • Support the Clinical and Pharm Sci teams in managing Oncology life of program budgets and advises on financial impacts operational decisions (hereinafter referred to as Business Partners).
  • May provide strategic financial support for Oncology operating expenses.
  • Synthesize information from various sources across the R&D organizations to prepare multi-year budgets and forecasts for Oncology and other medicines, including Operating Plan
  • Provide sound financial and business guidance to ensure transparency in support of high priority medicine portfolio investment decision making at PMT, OSGT (Oncology Strategy Governance Team) and GPTs, as well as at other forums
  • Demonstrate superior financial and analytical skills, an ability to work proactively, negotiate, influence, relate well to others, and think strategically, all which will further enable the candidate to advise, support and problem solve with senior leaders
  • Prepare business results, financial projections, and analyses; anticipate operational changes and proactively communicate financial impact; synthesize information, identify trends, risk / opportunities and recommendations for action to the Business Partner
  • Provides critical financial support for co-development Oncology or other medicines for which he/she is the "Face of Pfizer" from a finance perspective by participating in Joint Finance Committees, collaborating both internally and externally with the 3rd party company to manage the collaboration financials to ensure adherence to the contract
  • Ensure compliance with all fiduciary responsibilities and finance policies

Required Basic Qualifications

  • 7 years of finance experience; 6 years with MBA
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, planning and analysis for a global organization
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and successful experience operating in highly matrixed organizations
  • Knowledge of accounting and prior experience in monthly financial close activities
  • Knowledge of SAP and fluency in Microsoft Office tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MBA or CPA)
  • Pharma/Biotech finance experience
  • Prior Pfizer finance experience; including experience providing financial support for clinical studies, especially in Oncology
  • Experience in BD evaluations / partnerships transactions

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $117,300.00 to $195,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. The annual base salary for this position in Tampa, FL ranges from $105,500.00 to $175,900.00.
