ROLE SUMMARY

Contracting Vaccines Account Managers (C-VAMs) are responsible for working with Retail and VAM Leadership, Marketing, Payer Regional Key Account teams and relevant HQ teams to support effective and compliant pricing and contracting discussions with Key Accounts, in support of the vaccine's portfolio. C-VAMs are expected to effectively and compliantly engage appropriate executive and administrative customers in Key Accounts (with a focus on economic decision makers including VP/Directors of Pharmacy, CFO, P&T Committee Members) with respect to pricing, contracting and formulary access. This includes negotiating with the customer when appropriate and facilitating the communication and alignment with key Field and HQ functions (Retail Trade Directors, VAMs, Marketing, Region and National Account Leads, Legal, Contracting, USMA) to support GPO and direct contracts within this space.

In addition to the customer facing responsibility, the C-VAM will work closely in partnership with VAMs and the Vaccine Account Director (VAD) to develop strategies on specific account opportunities within the Region, including leading the effective pull-through efforts in collaboration with other customer-facing field functions. The C-VAM will have a broad view of our Vaccines and mRNA opportunities and challenges within assigned VAM accounts and will make strategic decisions (in alignment with Vaccines AM Leadership) related to contracting. The C-VAM will also be an active participating member of relevant Regional Integrated Account Teams (IATs) and be the lead in coordinating pricing and contracting workflow.

Key Accounts include, but are not limited to, national/regional retailers, integrated delivery networks, large medical groups, and other prioritized alternate site accounts. In addition, the C-VAM will be the regional point of contact to address inquiries regarding the Pfizer Vaccines Discounts on Demand program. The C-VAM will serve as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for vaccine pricing and contracting within their assigned region

Role Responsibility:

  • Appropriate communication and collaboration with relevant cross-functional colleagues (Retail Trade Directors, VAMs, Vaccines AM Leadership, Marketing, USMA, Legal, Contracting, etc.) to support effective pricing/contracting discussions with Vaccine Key Accounts.
  • Where needed, and in coordination with Vaccine AM Leadership, effectively and compliantly engage appropriate customer targets (executive and administrative level personnel within Vaccine Key Accounts) with respect to pricing and contracting for Pfizer's vaccine portfolio.
  • Work closely with VAMs and Vaccine AM Leadership to ensure development and execution of strategic account plans for all assigned accounts, with specific focus on effective/compliant contracting discussions, and contract pull through.
  • Accountable for all contracting activities in non-VAM aligned accounts and other commercial customers, as required.
  • Provide field expertise and regional support for Pfizer Discounts on Demand program.
  • Work in partnership with Integrated Account Team (IAT) on assigned accounts to support the Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process with aligned customers.
  • Support the development and execution of effective contracting strategy on behalf of Vaccine portfolio by representing perspectives of Vaccine Accounts to appropriate HQ-based functions/personnel.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience required, or Master's degree and 9+ years of experience, or Ph.D./PharmD and 7+ years of experience required.
  • Prior sales management and / or account management experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully engage executive/administrative level personnel at large accounts
  • Ability to deliver complex pricing/value messages to organized provider accounts in a fully compliant fashion
  • Demonstrated financial/business acumen, strategic thinking, leading without authority and project management
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and comfort managing complex issues/obstacles
  • Experience using data and all available information to prioritize business opportunities
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating effectively and gaining alignment with colleagues across different parts of the organization (including field and HQ), and leading (formally or informally) cross-functional teams
  • Functional/Technical Skills and proficiency in Excel for analyzing and interpreting data

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical (or related) experience in customer-facing roles/functions preferred.
  • Contracting experience required; Advanced negotiation experience preferred
  • Experience with vaccine or buy and bill products preferred

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to travel up to 30-50% of the time based on business requirements, to include customer meetings and internal Pfizer meetings
  • Candidate must live in or be willing to relocate to a location that is within a commutable distance to majority of assigned accounts as approved by the Team Lead and the National Account Management Lead

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $161,600 to $269,400. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
