Job Summary

The R&D Radiochemist will deliver radiochemistry expertise to enable preclinical PET/SPECT imaging studies at the Perceptive Hammersmith site. The candidate will mainly be responsible for the development, synthesis and evaluation of radiopharmaceuticals for pre-clinical studies, using both short-lived (e.g. 11C, 18F etc.) and long-lived radioisotopes (e.g. 89Zr, 117Lu, 125I etc.). The radiopharmaceuticals produced will support the advancement of innovative diagnostics and therapies across various applications, with a primary focus on neurology and oncology.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform labelling feasibility assessment on novel compounds using established labelling methodologies and optimization of the radiolabelling process
  • Implementation of labelling strategies for novel and established PET ligands, including reaction optimization, purification, development of suitable quality control procedures (e.g. HPLC, GC etc.), and radio-metabolite analysis
  • Perform routine radiochemistry with commercial and custom-made synthesis modules
  • Manage radiochemistry projects and ensure projects are delivered to the agreed timelines
  • Adhere to appropriate radiation and safety regulations

Qualifications

  • Essential: PhD in Chemistry or related field; or MSc in Chemistry or related field with 5+ years of experience.
  • Knowledge of chemistry techniques as applied to commercial and academic PET research is an advantage but not essential. Training will be provided to candidates without prior radiochemistry experience.
  • Knowledge and expertise in in vivo PET imaging is advantageous but not essential.
  • IT literate with good understanding of appropriate software packages.
