Laboratory Senior Technician

Overview

Location : Valhalla, New York

To support new beverage development and commercialization needs of the SodaStream R&D team

Responsibilities

  • Perform all activities in a safe manner and within the context of all PepsiCo safety protocols
  • Responsible for the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
  • Maintain and document laboratory inventory
  • Conduct shelf-life testing and document findings
  • Support scientists in developing new syrups including testing new ingredients
  • Accurately prepare syrup and beverage samples for experimentation by:
    • Developing a detailed testing plan with timeline
    • Acquiring necessary ingredients and packaging
    • Scheduling production runs in technical center
    • Coordinating the production and storage of samples
    • Submitting samples for analytical or sensory testing
    • Thoroughly documenting experimental details in laboratory notebook

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $59,000 - $88,500.

  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in scientific field

Desired:

  • Technician and/or Summer Intern experience(s) at a consumer goods company
  • Laboratory bench work experience in school or industry (food and beverage industry a plus)
  • Familiarity with common lab analytical instruments and beverage processing equipment

Percent Travel: 0-10%

  • Ability to flawlessly execute bench work
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills

  • Must possess ability to work successful in cross-functional teams
  • Computer Skills: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Outlook (email/calendar)
  • This position is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States

Key Challenges

  • Ability to support and learn a wide variety of products characteristics across multiple product types (i.e. CSDs, juice drink, energy drink)
  • Ability to work in and manage a laboratory environment, with responsibilities in maintaining equipment and raw materials
  • Ability to manage multiple project tasks, manage time and expectations for group needs including effectively communicating conflict of requests
  • Be able to manage, prioritize, and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional partners
