Global IBP

The Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process aims to transform business decision making that will result in profitable and sustainable growth balancing strategic, financial and operational objectives. It is a cross-functional, rolling planning process integrating product, marketing, sales, Demand chain, partner and financial plans into one aligned plan for the business through a global standard. This single set of numbers will leverage next generation orchestration and analytic technology coupled with data and digital savvy PepsiCo talent, and - in most markets - an enabling decision-support tool, ensuring agile and fast decision-making to take us to the next level above the competition. IBP goes beyond Demand & demand matching; it is a leap forward for the business, enabling faster, more coordinated and more informed decision making with increased visibility from supplier to customer. It is action-oriented and focused on the business across weekly Sales & Operations Execution (iS&OE), Period Sales & Operations Planning (iS&OP), and Yearly Strategic Planning.

Global IBP: Demand Implementation Project Team

The Demand Planning Team is accountable for the solution design, deployment and sustainment of the IBP Global Processes, Organizational Design, Product requirements and Systems Architecture requirements for FLNA. They are advocates for the value of IBP and will support global, sector and local forums to build awareness of the global IBP template. The Demand team will lead the strategic thinking and insight into our future ways for working on Demand Planning within our Integrated Business Planning process which is one of the primary processes by which we run PepsiCo. With the ecosystem focus, this has been identified as a clear pillar of opportunity scoping the globe Demand ultimately will lead the change of approach in how we process our strategy longer term.

Job Description: gIBP FLNA Demand Modeler (L10)

This role supports the FLNA deployments.

This job holder is responsible to ensure that the Forecasting capabilities are developed to fulfill PepsiCo needs and align to the journey evolution towards Maturity Level 5 going using advanced AI / ML enabled modelling like driver-based forecasting. This person will need to work closely with the D+A team, Analytics Data Scientists, and the centralized modelling teams to ensure the right design on modelling and is well deployed and evolved in the Analytics team and Modelling operational teams in the Sector, including pilots to test new capabilities or techniques in this space to continue evolving the solution. In addition will need to work in sync with the peers leading the demand planning process design to integrate the requirements and process with the forecasting capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Help define and continuously evolve the future-state forecasting capabilities design and operating model within the demand planning processes and activities in the IBP process (iS&OE, iS&OP and iSP) and the interface of DP with any other demand analytics (driver-based forecasting, demand sensing, promotions and new products introduction modelling, demand shaping, etc) elements as required.
  • Propose, prepare and maintain a single repository to stock all the necessary blueprints, methodologies, instructions linked to forecasting processes and capabilities.
  • Work together with sectors demand planning leads to develop demand planning sector and global roadmaps to progress on the maturity journey towards Level 5 maturity capabilities.
  • Contribute to the forecasting services catalogue to develop and provide to the Sectors and BUs through the Demand Planning teams and processes.
  • Document and maintain in the repository all defined process boundaries, process ownerships and process responsibilities for all constituent steps.
  • Contribute to the design of visualizations of monitoring and performance measurements for demand planning and forecasting within the IBP framework, including standard KPIs and scorecards.
  • Support creating and implementing proposals and strategies of recommended capabilities improvements driving increased benefits and/or lower costs and any associated software investments
  • Ensure that business and user requirements are identified and addressed across all the above elements and they become the core input for user journeys that drive the development of technology, data and analytics ecosystems.
  • To champion, advocate, establish and assist in governing the IBP and Demand planning processes as one of the primary processes by which PEP businesses are run. Within that remit, to call out and address any areas of the process which are not working effectively, lead and advise the different stakeholders, functions, geographies and the respective IBP and demand planning leads embedded in our operations on the capability build and IBP and DP process adherence and harmonization of this whilst ensuring that our transformational agenda is achieved. More specifically, ensures Market demand generation (marketing, sales, innovation) leads, as well as cross functional SMEs and decision makers within the IBP process are adhering to the process, (various levels within the organization (L6 to LG3).
  • Leverage and share best practice which will impact on the wider PepsiCo ecosystem ensuring the best for PepsiCo and therefore enabling its Better, Stronger and Faster ambitions.
  • Build an internal and external Network, sharing best practices and developments in the forecasting area, maintain clear and strong links to the IBP and demand planning Community within sector
  • Support IBP sub-processes (e.g. Product Review, Demand Review, Supply Review, Integration Reconciliation, Management Business Review) to ensure they operate to the correct standard and deliver value, supported by forecasting capabilities.
  • Contribute to a continuous improvement and capability program to harmonize best practices and elevate forecasting capabilities across Sectors and BUs
  • Owns the IBP Demand forecasting capabilities for FLNA project assignment, and defines action plans to drive the forecasting agenda, in an integrated manner within demand planning and with the other IBP process leads (financial planning, supply planning, commercial planning and integrated planning)
  • Collaborate closely with other project leads (Demand Planning, Adoption, Change Management, Training, Testing, Product, Data, Data Science, Analytics, etc) to deliver the project on time and on budget.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $102,800 - $172,100 based on a full-time schedule.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary.
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 12% of annual salary paid out annually.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree Minimum required, Post Graduate preferred
  • Expert on Forecasting and Modelling from a functional perspective as well as Demand Planning processes, DP tools and organization on fast moving consumer goods. Forecasting including advanced modelling forecasting with AI/ML and Time-Series techniques, demand sensing, promotions forecasting, new product introduction forecasting, demand shaping and demand scenarios modelling
  • High level of executive maturity:
    • Interacting with, influencing & aligning peers and senior leaders.
    • Leadership through influencing senior colleagues from all functions but primarily, Data and Analytics, Demand Planning and IT.
    • Managing ambiguity ~ working within a complex, fluid cross-functional environment managing significant amounts of change and being able to influence a broad base of cross-functional stakeholders & peers.
    • The ability to understand and provide a top-line strategic view or, where needed to back up recommendations for Leadership Team decisions, a very detailed and accurate analysis is a critical skill.
    • Ability to take a holistic business view.
  • High level of business acumen is required ~ must be commercially savvy, with strong analytical skills. Strong understanding of the IBP processes, demand planning and forecasting.
  • Would typically have a strong demand planning background with sound supply chain & commercial understanding, including S&OE, S&OP, AOP and PSP experience.
  • Excellent influencing skills, confident when dealing with different Leadership Team members with more seniority and experience, and credible in dealings with them. Be sensitive to cultural differences, and able to deal with these.
  • Personally, hugely passionate advocate of the IBP process and its demand planning elements - ability to engage, build rapport and help people see the art of the possible in this area without criticizing or diminishing PepsiCo current state
  • Strong team player
  • Self-starter capable of managing their own agenda within a complex, fast paced environment.
  • Comfortable with process discipline and process adherence, but also able to identify and take opportunities to further develop and strengthen the process without compromising the end state
  • Demonstrated degree level capability.
  • 10+ years of cross-functional experience at a senior level within another FMCG company
  • Good English speaker

Preferred Candidate

  • Masters Degree or PHD
  • Experienced with demand planning modeling across multiple lines of business and markets. Typically 8+ years of experience
  • Experience with sales, trade promotion management and supply chain processes
  • Transformational leadership and change management experience with demand planning projects ideal
  • Experience in cross-functional roles preferred
  • Knowledge of SAS and/or SAP IBP
