Gatorade Market Development Associate

Overview

As a Gatorade MDA, you'll be embedded in local athlete communities and play a critical role on a national team responsible for the execution of a unique marketing and sales initiative. Your ability to build strong relationships and a passion for our brands, products and helping athletes reach their potential are a must. In this role, you will lead local brand education efforts to create advocacy and help increase product understanding and usage. Strong creative and strategic selling/storytelling skills, along with strong understand of the local athletic landscape, will be the foundation of your success at Gatorade. You will be the face of Gatorade and spend approximately 90% of your time in front of athletes and their influencers, acting as the "General Manager" of your territory.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen relationships and service of existing athletic channel accounts and identify/establish relationships with new accounts. Thoroughly understand their businesses, extend the availability of product at points of sweat, and meet KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
  • Provide insights and observations from local athletes and accounts, competitors, and trends in your market
  • Demonstrate a passion for and develop acute knowledge of Gatorade's full portfolio of offerings, functional benefits and competitive landscape
  • Identify local athletic "influencers" (coaches, athletic trainers, fitness professionals, athletic directors, athletes and parents) and educate on the importance of sports nutrition/Gatorade's portfolio of sports hydration and nutrition solutions
  • Manage, execute and activate multiple field marketing events on a monthly basis
  • Deliver volume, mix and revenue targets as outlined in KPIs
  • Own product ordering, processing, and tracking
  • Effective management of SKU's and product mix for all customers, providing service across full brand portfolio

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $59,300 - $92,500 based on a full-time schedule.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary.
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 15% of annual salary paid out annually.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA Degree
  • 2+ years field marketing, outside sales or account management experience preferred
  • Highly self-motivated individual with excellent communication, negotiation, influencing, storytelling and follow up skills
  • Athletic participation or coaching experience strongly preferred
  • Local youth athletic market knowledge for Detroit strongly preferred
  • Passion for brand marketing and the ability to think strategically and creatively
  • Public speaking, sampling and event management
  • Demonstrated professionalism and dependability
  • Ability and desire to work independently and build a network
  • Cold calling
  • A valid driver's license and ability to drive to customer accounts within the specified territory
  • Some lifting (up to 30lbs) required as part of the role
  • This position is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States
