Responsibilities
The Automation Manager role contributes to the Operational success of the Lancaster, Texas (Dallas) fully automated Warehouse. The Lancaster, Texas Warehouse Delivered operation is our largest Warehouse in our overall WHD Network at over 1.25MM sq. ft located just 10-15-minutes from downtown Dallas.
This role will oversee the performance of warehouse automation systems, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency while also responsible for coaching and developing the maintenance and site team members on processes, priorities that support performance, safety, people engagement, quality, food safety, cost, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate possesses a mechanical and technical background, demonstrates exceptional analytical and follow-up skills, detail oriented, ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams while continuously challenging the status quo and not accepting just hitting a goal/metric. Candidate does NOT need an Automation background for this role however should be a quick learner & needs to have proven and demonstrated skills as outlined above/below.
- Training & Development of standard operating procedures
- Continuous improvement on developed processes
- Managing multiple complex projects with competing demands while utilizing problem solving skills to ensure the successful implementation and rollout of automation project updates
- This role will be responsible for leading all automation related projects for the site
- Ensure operations are running smoothly with correct escalation for any issues
- Deploy strategies/processes/procedures on site to meet the potential of automation equipment.
- Implement process improvements when gaps are found to correct and improve as the site navigates the implementation of automation technology.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills to coach, develop and influence multiple positions including operators, GUIs, schedulers, wranglers etc.
- Track performance and important KPIs to ensure the health of the automation systems such as PM's, Maintenance, etc.
- Work cross functionally daily with multiple teams including site ops, IT, OT, external vendors, engineering, inventory, and maintenance.
- Utilize E80 UI, WMS, PGT/SAP and CMMS for visibility and maintenance of automation equipment and operations.
- Support site operations from a systems perspective to include PGT integration and sustainability.
- Support various components and activities spanning the project management life cycle: such as business case analysis, detailed requirements, software design/testing/deployment and issues management.
- Support commissioning, IFT, FAT, qualification and verification of any new Automation equipment/systems.
- Deliver effective change leadership while driving automation changes and getting buy in from the team on all levels.
- Work with peer group across the Network to learn/share best practices
- Maintain effective communication with external project teams and internal operations teams to minimize impact on operations
- Operate with high urgency and all critical opportunities to be resolved within 24/hours by mobilizing the right resources
- Create and update the playbook for automation on site through developing SOPs and training the site team.
- Maintain a "self-starter" mentality with the ability to manage yourself and time effectively without clear cut guidance.
- Ensure that spare parts, components, and tools needed for maintenance are always available by ordering, forecasting, and monitoring material inventories.
- Ensure that maintenance technician records are accurate and detailed information in work orders for accurate work history and data-driven decisions.
- Determine if new maintenance equipment, methods, or tools are needed to improve asset reliability.
- Lead all WMS GUI equipment and Inventory.

Compensation and Benefits:
- The expected compensation range for this position is between $89,000 - $149,000.
- Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
- Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 12% of annual salary paid out annually.
- Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Preferably in engineering, business, supply chain, or similar field
- Experience with systems relating to automation: WMS, SAP, CMMS, OEM UI/HMI, Power Apps
- High level of analytical skills, ability to use data to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities, and accurately assess impacts
- Leadership aptitude to get results through mentoring/coaching others
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Foster performance and continuous improvement throughout the organization
- Proven ability to work in a results-oriented, dynamic environment
- Continuously challenges the norm and seeks ways to improve & remove redundant work through automation
- Strong attention to detail & follow-up skills
