Apprentice Fleet Technician (Evenings)

CO Salary Range: USD 23.00 per hour

PBNA $23.00 / hour
Pay rate: $23.00 / hour

Position follows Pepsi mentor while performing basic diagnostic and repair work, including scheduled preventative maintenance, oil and filter changes, and repairs to trucks (light, medium, and DOT-regulated vehicles), vans, forklifts, and material handling equipment. Position works with limited independence while working with mentor. This position requires that you use Pepsi supplied basic hand tools. Diagnostic, ergonomic, and high-tech equipment will be provided. Due to the scope and variety of Pepsi's fleet, our department includes a variety of positions and job opportunities, ranging from entry-level to master technicians. We provide extensive training and continuous education to build onto your current basic technical degree program.

Position requires the following (to be completed with or without a reasonable accommodation): Position requires physical movements including lifting, pinching, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing, and manipulating and handling objects. Position must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Learn to diagnose failures of vehicles and material handling equipment
Learn to complete oil and filter changes
Disassemble, repair and reassemble parts and equipment as necessary
Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles
Take direction from mentor and supervisors
Use computer-based diagnostics to interface with equipment
Use a computer to access prior work orders and complete current work order
Maintain vehicle records as required
Repair fleet equipment
Successfully complete Pepsi safety training as needed
Complete OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and other necessary training as required
Communicate with equipment operators, mentor, supervisors, and others
Manage parts inventory as parts are used in repairs

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Be enrolled in formal schooling in a technical industry (e.g., certification program, technical/community college)
Possess a valid Driver's License
Must be able to sufficiently speak English due to the safety sensitivity of this role
Knowledge of internal combustible engines
Experience using shop tools (engine hoists, welding, changing tires, small tools)

HELPFUL EXPERIENCE:
Experience with preventative maintenance programs and activities (following schedules for oil changes, documentation of work completed, tracking miles and usage hours, identifying and repairing defects)
Experience working outdoors (making road calls, responding to breakdowns, working in outside parking lots)
Experience with shift work (2nd/3rd shift work, flexible work weeks)
Basic understanding of preventative maintenance programs
Basic computer skills
Knowledge of hydraulic and air brake systems
